Hôtel Maison Du Général

Our room was small, but given the good price that I paid, that should have been expected. We really only slept there anyway, and it was located close to everyplace we wanted to be, so a good trade off. Parking is not available onsite, but we used the paid parking garage down the street, less than a two minute walk away. Safe and secure.

No room maintenance at all the whole stay. Received warning from them the day before stating that. Scary lobby & entrance way. Air conditioning, wifi & TV did not work whole trip. Breakfast in building next door (thank god). Worst ever expedia experience.

The “hotel “ doesn’t make much of an impression from the outside. The flowers in the window boxes are dead and the front door is beat up. As you enter the dark narrow hallway the unwelcoming receptionist sits behind a small desk and handed us our keys and breakfast tickets to the adjacent restaurant which was beautifully decorated and the breakfast was good and the coffee was endless. However, to get to our room we had to carry our suitcases up three semi-circular flights of Victorian era stairs(narrow on inside and wider on the outside.) The room was very crowded with the two beds which have sharp wood edges that clipped my ankle a couple times. The wi-fi and t.v. didn’t even work. Front desk said it was because the hotel had changed ownership. The excuse was not believable. On the positive side the place was clean, the bathroom looked like it had been updated and the water pressure and temperatures worked fine. However, the flickering lightbulb above the sink was bothersome. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows need replacing. So if you’re looking for a semi-rustic 1700s place to stay with un-glamorous amenities, but centrally located this place is fo you. As for me I wouldn’t go back.

The location is wonderful, staying right in the upper town makes it easier to visit the major landmarks. The room was cozy and warm. They helped us to get a ground-level room as my wife is pregnant and there is no elevator.

WI Fi and TV did not work. No help from the staff. No soap in dispenser in shower. No rubber mat in shower, very dangerous for seniors. No maid service. Breakfast was good.

Great location, great quality price! Needs a little bit more improvement with the cleaning in some areas in the room/bathroom corners and windows, also rooms not soundproofed so maybe bring earplugs but overall great! Will certainly come back:)

Information fausse pour l’enregistrement:se présenter sur la rue Ste-Ursule alors que l’adresse n’existe pas. Air climatisé qui ne fonctionne pas et personne pour régler le problème. Un employé promet d’effectuer un suivi et d’offrir une compensation . Aucun suivi ou compensation. Ne réservez pas à cet hôtel, mobilier désuet et limite dangereux avec la mini fenêtre-porte d’urgence qui ne ferme pas en entier. Mauvaise expérience.

The desk was not staffed when I had questions. When I got to ask questions, s the person at the desk did not know the answer. At check-in we were told that there would be no housekeeping, but on day 3 of our 2 day stay we returned to the room to find the bed made and no towels. We had left valuables about thinking we would be alone in the room, but would not have done that. The light bulbs in the fixtures in the room had been taken out except for 1 bulb in the bathroom and 1 in the bedroom making it quite dark. On the positive side, the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet even though it was on street level.

Not for elderly or arthritic guests. Doors set to max difficulty to open due to heavy springs . Keys also difficult to turn. Lack of supplies, had 3 burnt light bulbs but no replacements available. Only 1 facecloth available for 2 people over 2 days. Extreme difficulty in finding parking garage. Attendant offered limited assistance and told me to use GPS. Yet entrance was on side street and GpS was useless. Attendant was less than helpful Slippe ry bathtub. No bath mat. Good breakfast next door Good location, unlike picture. Decent bed. Difficult winding staircase Attendant on site in mornings and afternoons only. Would not recommend.

I liked this property but please note that Expedia’s directions for check in were wrong. When I was there, check in was done directly inside but Expedia gave another address. That was totally incorrect and confusing. The breakfast at a restaurant next door was really good. Note that the breakfast is free (the hotel gives you a coupon for it when you arrive) but does not include service. Since the wait staff serve you, you should tip even though you don’t pay.

Loved the location in Old Town, pgreat value, and charm of the hotel.

This hotel is in a great location for visiting the old city of Quebec. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. It isn't a totally traditional hotel with 24 hour desk service so that is a limitation that some might not like, but it was a fine place to stay. Just be aware that check in really isn't open until 4:00!

Nice and clean room, staff very warm hearted and helpful, close to all main places to visit. No elevator may be a issue if u carry large and heavy suitcases

L’hôtel se situe dans le Vieux-Quebec, c’est une hôtel rustique, j’adore!! La chambre est petite mais parfait pour 2 personnes avec toutes les commodites. Petit déjeuner inclus et la chambre était à un prix très abordable. J’y retournerais sans hésiter.

Breakfast was good and the location. Everything else was terrible

It was a good stay, decent room for the price and clean. Hard to see the building and the sign or name of the hotel. No staff in reception you will call them if you have question or anything else. You will check in by yourself, get the key and go to your assign room. They offer breakfast voucher which is good!

The location was perfect. It was right in the heart of Old Quebec city making it very convenient and walkable to the city center. The breakfast during my stay was included and staff at the hotel restaurant was very accommodating and courteous. The room was small not much amenities but will do. Our view from the window was emergency staircases, it would have been okay but it had old wet boxes that was piled up making it a hazard and an eyesore. The front desk staff could need some touch up with friendliness and maybe look a little less stress and put on a some smile, it's front desk after all.

Breakfast was in a nearby restaurant and was OK. The downside was with the room having an emergency exit through a window that I could not lock, at least one broken light bulb, a coffee maker with no nearby electrical sick nearby, and a TV package that only showed French Canadian programmes
