Hotel Klaustur

Good location, comfortable rooms and good food options.

Loved this hotel. It also had the best restaurant and included breakfast on our trip!

Beautiful facility. Jon was very welcoming. Breakfast buffet offered a wonderful variety of choices.

The Hotel Klaustur is an exceptional property with exceptional staff. Looking forward to our next stay here. The room we had is the highest quality and sets the standard for luxury accomodation in south Iceland. Dining with the hotel is a highlight and the lounge area at the bar is very comfortable and a very nice place to spend time. The hotel is decorated with fine prints from around Kirkjubæjarklaustur that inspired us to seek more adventure. Great advice from Sveinn the manager took us down a little known road to some of the most beautiful views we have had in Iceland.

Awsome hotel!!

Check in was smooth and easy, public areas have a nice ambience, rooms whilst a little dated were clean as a whistle and quiet. Bed was super comfortable, the buffet breakfast was probably the best we’ve had on our road trip with very good variety. We had to leave the hotel earlier than breakfast start time and we were allowed into the restaurant earlier which was very much appreciated. Would not hesitate to return.

Clean, spacious, and well appointed. Good amenities. Good facilities. Decent area for exploring the surrounding area. Not much bad to say other than the lack of an ice machine.

There aren’t a ton of options in this area and we stayed here to be close to Vatnajökull. The hotel was very quiet and everyone there was nice. When we arrived we were originally in two rooms with only a view into a row of other rooms, but since we checked in on the earlier side they were kind enough to move us to rooms with a South view. But on our way to our room the person cleaning rooms told us to keep our windows closed because of insects. This made them really hot at night. Additionally when we first entered the windows had been open and there were a bunch of small non-biting bugs that looked like mosquitoes in the room. We ate at the hotel for dinner one night - it was very good but on the pricey side. The following night we ate at Systrakaffi and it was excellent for the price - easily half the cost of the hotel restaurant. Breakfast at the hotel had plenty of options, including some nicer choices of cheeses, smoked fish, and eggs and bacon - a great way to fuel up for a day of activities on and around the glacier.

We were welcomed by a very nice staff member at reception. She gave me an upgrade as it was my birthday and we had a wonderful stay.

Clean, comfortable and perfectly placed to explore the glaciers. Very good restaurant (make reservations) and bar.

This was an amazing hotel to stay at. I stayed only for one night as it was just a resting place for me and my fiance to stay until we could drive again in the morning to our next destination, but the staff went above and beyond. The check in took less than 5 minutes, and they saw that we had come in with wet boots and immediately offered to dry them for us. We were able to get a reservation for dinner that same time. This final part is why I wish I could give more than 5 stars as a review. We explained that we would be checking out at 6am as we had a long drive for an activity later that day. Of their own volition, the staff member said that while breakfast is served at 7am (i cant remember the exact time), they would make sure something would be prepared for us by 6am for our journey. When we checked out at 6am, the breakfast? Again, above and beyond. They packed us 4 sandwiches, 2 snack bars, 2 apples, and 2 drinks! I would recommend this hotel to everyone, even if only for a night!

Staff was wonderful. Saw the Aurora right outside the hotel.

Nice bathrooms, friendly staff, great hotel

A little gem in the middle of nowhere. The only other restaurant not that far (walkable) is quite good too.

Clean room, dinner and drinks at the hotel were delicious.
