Shangri La Tanjung Aru Kota Kinabalu

I would like to give special credit to Yen, who checked me in during my stay. She went all the way to ensure my comfort and ensured that I enjoyed my stay again with the hotel. I will definitely book the same hotel again. Hope the thanks and gratitude can be extended to Yen by the management.

One of the best hotel in Kota Kinabalu. provide great services and facilities, friendly staffs and good food. the best getaway for everyone especially for families with young children.

My son and I spent 3 days and 2 nights there, and we tried each of the restaurants. The food was great, and the swimming pools were very nice. There were also plenty of activities to enjoy — a game room, a VR room, and even a small cinema. We also booked some water activities with Star Marine. We definitely plan to come back again.

This place is consistently fantastic. The site itself is beautiful and really well appointed. The views are stunning, and sunset just sensational. Well worth the cost to enjoy the sunset bar. Food options are great - we used most of these during our stay. The breakfast is wonderful, with a great range to cater to all tastes. The main thing that makes this place amazing though is the staff. All our interactions with staff were fantastic. Haniff over in food and beverages will do whatever he can to make your stay special - and has an incredible memory for the details of the guests. Brandon who took care of us on our hotel organised trip to Sapi Island was fantastic - knowledgeable, kind to our daughter, and made sure we got out to the reef to snorkel before it was understandably closed due to low tide. All staff, from those in the kids water area and in the games room, to those looking after your room and helping with bags, were great. We'd stayed right before coming to this hotel at another, big, "5 star" place not far away - also with nice features - but what makes the difference is how you are made to feel at Shangri-La Tanjang Aru. That is what made our holiday. (I can only hope that the hotel managers do not expand further and risk losing what makes this place special. There is a pretty warehouse for people wanting to take instagram photos up the road - keep this place the treasure it is!)

The Shangti-La is just a step up from other hotels. Yes, it's big and busy but the staff go out of their way to really spoil you. I'm vegan and they bent over backwards to ensure I had a great breakfast, sent soy milk to my room tweaked dishes so I ate well. And the location - oh my. We stayed in a garden room and could walk straight out looking at the sea. Room had a shower and a bath, was well stocked. Water in the fridge every day. Their Spa was great too. I can't think of anything bad about the place. We just didn't want to leave.
