I would honestly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. The room was super and you want for nothing - even a welcome hand written note along with a bottle of wine. Will definitely stay again.

This is NOT a 4 star hotel. Maybe a 3. Old and frumpy interior, very small rooms, tiny elevator that still requires climbing steep stairs, persistent bad smell in room, no hot water one day. Would not return.

This is a small, unique hotel in the Museum District of Amsterdam. It has five floors and a tiny elevator. The hotel comprises two different buildings which are not on the same level so when you go up you must go down again if your room is in the second building. The stairs have extremely small footspace and are covered in a geometric pattern of bright colors. We found the stairs very awkward and difficult.
The room we stayed in was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was brand new with a good shower. They do not have washcloths, so bring your own.
The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast. They put out quite a nice spread with eggs, bacon, croissants, fresh fruit , yogurt, Cold cuts and excellent whole grain bread. They also have a great espresso machine. Overall it’s a really good place if you can do the stairs!

This hotel is near the streetcar line and adjacent to the canals and activity. It is clean and the quadruple room spacious with beds for each person. We enjoyed the private (for hotel) courtyard where you could enjoy a drink or smoke.

Staff was extremely warm, helpful, and professional. Location is central and easily accessible by tram. Rooms were small (as to be expected), but the walls were extremely thin and I could hear alarms and conversations from neighboring rooms and the hallway.

I was quite pleased with my one week stay at Huygens. It was convenient for accessing tourist sights through either walking, using trams or buses located close by. Several nearby markets and the room fridge allowed me to do some meals in the room. I found my upgraded room to be spacious, modern, quiet, and comfortable. I had lots of windows and a view out to the courtyard. Lastly, the front desk staff was just great overall.
My complaints are minimal - me and the heater never seemed to be in sync (seems to be quite a lag between temp adjustments and effect). I also wish the tv had either more international stations or ability to cast my device to it so I could stream.

Even though my room was a single room, the space for unpacking the suitcase and the size of the clothes rack were quite good. The provision of a safe (in a sensible location) and a fridge was 2 plus points since many hotels do not have them these days. The bathroom was spacious enough and the layout was well designed. I was happy with the provision of the essentials and the very comfortable shower every time when one was needed.
I appreciated also that the room was tidied every day automatically (instead of having to ask for it as requiredb by some hotels. However, Whilst the room looked clean generally, I didn't understand why there seemed to be a lot of dust (e.g. on main table's amd and bedside table's surface, on my suitcase's outside (on the next day after I cleaned it post- unpacking)

The staff was lovely, and they helped us a lot with every question. The hotel is small, the elevator is tiny and you can't get in 2 people and luggage. The room and bathroom are also relatively small and cramped. Nice location, about a 20-30 minute walk to the city center. We walked mostly on foot despite the cold.
