Amazing location in the Oslo city center. Great morning breakfast

The only thing that I noticed was the room seemed dark with the wall colors and the lighting could be improved. Otherwise very clean and super helpful staff!

Property location and their phenomenal breakfast is well worth the stay. Rooms are a bit spartan, but the bed is very comfortable.

Great location just :10 walk from National Theatre train station, and so centrally located that nearly all tourist sites were within :15 walk (including ferry to museums like Fram). Spacious room & bath. Excellent breakfast buffet too in a light and pretty room.

Small reins but very clean and efficient. Limited in room entertainment.

The staff and property are amazing! The breakfast was delicious. The only drawback for us was lack of parking. Otherwise, our stay was top knotch! Thank you!

The breakfast in the morning and the location of this hotel are outstanding. The front desk personnel took care of your every need. Just clean amazing rooms. Our bed mattress needed to be replaced, but that is common. Thanks for a great stay!

Excellent hôtel in a great area of Oslo, close to downtown, arbor, metro and train stations etc… breakfast at hotel is great!!!Would go back there at any time.

The hotel was in a good location. Great buffet breakfast, but the service was just ok. The staff wasn’t that friendly or very helpful. Not sure if it’s worth the VIP status. I probably should have stayed at the Grand hotel Oslo next door if I was going to pay the same for a more boutique hotel but not have a personalised service

Love this place-- came back to stay again on my second business trip to Oslo. Best features: location and breakfast! Rooms/facility also very nice.

A very central hotel, you can walk to most sites. Excellent choice at breakfast. Sadly no water in mini fridge or milk. No teaspoon for T bags. Only 3 T bags per day for 2 people?! But these are minor issues, we had a fantastic time.

Karl Johan Hotel, as the name would suggest, is located on Karl Johans Gate – a great, central location in Oslo. The parliament building is just across the road. The Royal Palace, University and Central Station are all within walking distance. When walking towards Central Station, you will find the Cathedral as well as lots of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. The central location means you can save on public transport or taxi fares. Norway is not a cheap country, and this really helps. A train from central station to or from the airport costs 129KR (around USD12.90) on a stopping service. The hotel offers a variety of rooms. I had a cosy single. This was small, but had everything you would need including a fridge, coffee machine, kettle, some free toiletries, free WiFi and a large smart TV which was useful if you wanted to watch YouTube. There was also a small safe and plenty of outlets across the room, as well as a work desk, bedside table, lamp and reading light. There were no USB outlets, so you will need an adapter unless you are travelling from a European-plug area. There was also no phone for calling in-between rooms or reception, but the phone signal and WiFi worked well. Other rooms available included double, and more superior rooms that are larger and have more facilities. If your phone is eSIM compatible, you may want to consider an eSIM for internet access whilst out and about. Breakfast is included in all room types and rates.

Spacious rooms, great location in city center. And it has one of the best breakfast buffets of all time!

Jr suite was a large comfortable room with view of the parliament building and the plaza. Breakfast was very good and diverse.
