Cardiff Marriott Hotel

Unfortunately on arrival we were informed that they had no aircon in the hotel and had been experiencing problems the last couple of days and that there were fans in the room. Bearing in mind it was the hottest week of the year and they didn’t contact us before hand to inform us to give us the option of cancelling, we was disappointed with this and obvs didn’t sleep much at all as the fan was pretty useful. However although there was no offer of a refund or compensation they did allow us to park in their car park for free and leave extra water in the room. We have stayed at this hotel before and we have enjoyed our stay and it’s a good location, just disappointed not to be contacted before we arrived as we would have changed hotels due to the temperature as we had already struggled at home all week to sleep with the heat.

So wasn’t told until I checked in and paid in full that the air conditioning was broken, so I spent 2 nights trying to sleep in a furnace as the fan that was provided was useless, the fridge in the room was also broken so the water they put in there was also warm, an awful experience as I was told it had been down since Friday of last week and the hotel made ZERO effort to let guests know as there wouldn’t have been a hope in hell of me staying there if I had known. This hotel clearly only cares about their bottom line as oddly the AC was working fine in the gym and restaurant but not the rooms. Awful experience, one I won’t be repeating

Air con not working on the hottest day of the year! So didn’t stay. Staff very understanding and credited the room.

Staff were friendly and main area is maintained. I was put in a room with a new mattress they were trialling and had to ask to move rooms as it was like laying on a wooden board. Staff moved me straight away with no issues, although the old mattresses in the new room wasn't much better. Room was clean enough and ok for a 1 night stay. Main issue was the loud music keeping me awake till 3am, the windows did nothing to keep the noise out and sounded like I was in the club myself. It was a Mon/Tues night stay so I did not expect the noise. Wouldn't recommend or stay here again.

Clean room, comfortable bed. Staff friendly and pleasant. Lovely bar area especially outside in the sun

Close to city center. Very helpful staffs.

The air conditioning was broken and it was hot so room was bad as very hot with no air movement

Great location. Rooms were hot and air conditioning wasn’t working, although a fan was provided in each room. Hotel can’t help the weather being warm, but we struggled with the heat in the room even with the window open

Lovely hotel in Cardiff

Stayed in a standard double room, comfy bed, good shower, clean room and staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. Had a roast dinner in the browns restaurant, could be better considering how nice the dining area actually was to sit in. Nice pint of estrella though

Good location breakfast a bit expensive

The staff as always were extremely friendly and helpful, we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and we went out after checking in and when we came back they had left a card, a bar of chocolate and a bottle of wine in our room! What a lovey gesture, excellent t customer service!

Lovely stay however we were disappointed with breakfast . Only natural no flavoured yoghurt

Booked a “Superior” king room. The actual room was far from superior! Aged aluminium windows, and air conditioning broken. Had to leave the window ajar, because so hot in room, and woken by street noise at 2-3am, even on 10th floor. Had requested help from front desk with air conditioning when arrived and was told it would be fixed while I was out. Called when back in room 3 hrs later and it was still not working and was told that actually it had been broken in the whole hotel (except mezzanine floor level) for at least 24 hrs before my arrival and would not be fixed in my stay. They promised to send a fan to room; it didn’t arrive. I stayed at a Premier Inn a week later (half the price; admittedly not in Cardiff city) and the room was better for sleep. On the more positive side, location in centre of city is great, and good breakfast selection and nice bar area.

We arrived early and we were able to check in which was excellent news. The room was spotless and well maintained. All staff we encountered were pleasant friendly and always ready to help. Bed was really comfortable, breakfast was delicious and the location was ideal for us. We look forward to staying again and would highly recommend it!!

Bed was uncomfortable, mattress needs replacing. Reception told us they'd been replaced in some rooms not others. Shower was cramped and too low so I had to stoop.

The location was perfect and parking on site was great. Unfortunately we were in the front of the hotel and the noise from the street woke us ( we were on floor 9). Even numbered rooms are at the back of the hotel. The air con wouldn't go any lower than 18 and the room was too hot. Breakfast was great and staff were helpful.

Great location and friendly staff. Some areas of hotel looking a bit tired and issues reported were not dealt with. Rooms are ok but seem disjointed with furniture & appliances in awkward positions.
