The view was amazing, the hotel was clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. My only regret is that I forgot to leave a tip for the staff before we left. I sincerely apologize for that.

We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this charming historic hotel in mid-July--our first visit to Quebec City. Staff were welcoming, efficient, and helpful, and we appreciated the availability of a dedicated parking spot right around the corner. Location could not have been better; hotel is extremely convenient to Vieux-Quebec sights, tours, and restaurants but set off from the tourist congestion. Our river view room was clean, comfortable, and air conditioned via a portable window unit. As seems to be the case with many boutique hotels, staff are not always on site, but there is clear communication about the process of after-hours check-in, which seems well thought out and straightforward (we arrived during staffed hours, so have no direct experience with after-hours check-in). Would gladly stay here again!!!

The location was perfect right on the boardwalk & a quick walk to shops and restaurants. As this was a last minute trip we rented a small room on the 4th floor, the room was clean and the bed comfy. Air conditioning was wonderful.
The only drawback was the bathroom was laughably small. It worked and was clean, but you *literally* can sit on the toilet and spit your toothpaste into the sink without rising.

It's an old-fashioned but very cozy type of hotel. Its location is PERFECT, walking distance from the Chateau Frontenac and main tourist spots!
The single room is quite small but it's spotlessly clean, especially the bathroom.
If you arrive at the hotel after 7 pm, you have to follow instructions to do your self check in, but it was all easy for me, even though I'm in my sixties!
There's no elevator, and my room was on the 4th floor, but there's always someone to help you. The receptionist, Gabrielle, is lovely and she is always willing to assist you. I would really recommend staying here.

Amazing location and cool historic building. Parking is limited and spots are tight but we were very happy to secure a spot. Room was spacious and comfortable temperature. The bathroom was very small and dated, however, the overall experience was great and we would definitely return.

The Hotel Dufferin is a quirky old building with lots of interesting features. The staff were very helpful. The location is fabulous! The terrace boardwalk is right outside the front door and you are in the heart of the old walled city.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Terrasse Dufferin! The price was very affordable, the staff were very kind and welcoming, the location was perfect, and the complimentary snacks were delicious! They were even so sweet to leave us flowers and a card celebrating our anniversary! We would definitely highly recommend!

I really want to give a good review, however, there are things that must be noted and improve by management.
The location is just perfect - it’s within walking distance to all the main tourist sites in Old Quebec. The room is also quiet - we can’t hear other guests or cars passing by.
Checking in outside of regular hours was smooth and professionally done. The front desk staff were courteous, helpful and professional.
The hotel also prepared complimentary treats & cookie/candy bowls which were enjoyed by kids!
Now, here’s the issue - our room (#2) is very old - the furniture and the entire room are not well maintained and not kept clean. The air conditioning unit (is working) but is badly in need of cleaning - the dust are thick and crusting. The carpet is also stained & feels mushy - I am so glad we brought our own slippers (I won’t walk around bare foot on that carpet).
Now - let’s talk about the towels & sheets provided. The towels are old and visibly STAINED. The duvet & sheets also have stains. I understand that this is a 2-star hotel but guests deserve visibly clean sheets and towels (I can’t bear to see other guests stains and use these towels myself!) We stayed for 4 nights and we have to use our own t-shirts as towels! I suggest the hotel use a professional towel/sheet service.
The 9+ rating of this hotel in Expedia is misleading - especially on the “Cleanliness” category. It might be true for their other rooms (perhaps) but certainly NOT in room #2.

We were nervous about access and parking, knowing the hotel's location was right near the Chateau. But it was super easy. Staff were wonderful. Free snacks a plenty, which our kids loved. We made use of the common room, with toaster, microwave, ice maker, and water dispenser. They were thoughtful of us as a family, putting us on the main floor.
The building is old and has little quirks, but those are so far outweighed by the location and attention to detail.

The hotel is in a convenient area, just a few feet from Château Frontnac, with easy access to everything in Quebec city. There is limited parking for a fee, the room had coffee, snacks and accessto a shared dinning area and a small backyard. It was worth the price.
