The whole of the hotel was presentable. The staff were friendly and professional including dining room supervisor Laura and her staff, front of house manager Osge, receptionists Steph and Bianca. The food was excellent especially Christmas Day lunch. Thank you to the Cavendish for a brilliant week.

Not made to feel welcome by reception & bar staff! No loo roll in room and when I asked at reception for toilet rolls to be sent to room, I was informed that they don’t do room service and if we had wanted special requests in room then we should have emailed 24 hours before arrival - to be honest I had no idea what she was talking about! Everything was too much trouble! Music and lights turned off in bar between 10.50pm & 11pm leaving us to finish our bottle of wine in semi darkness! At breakfast, music again was turned off and doors shut at 9.55am with staff coming in and out getting drinks from the buffet! Terrible customer service. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t stay again! Britannia hotels have a very low standard.

Lovely hotel, our room, although a little dated was a great size, large balcony, wonderful views. We had a full bathroom which was perfect and also plenty of tea, coffee and milk not like a lot of fancy hotels where you just get two milk cartons. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast had a good selection.

The Cavendish was extremely dirty and in poor condition. We paid for what was shown on the website as a lovely (standard double) we were given a room down many filthy dirty stairs to a dirty room on its own past dirty broken unused dumped tables opposite a staff doorway (room number 64) this room SHOULD NOT be in use. It was like being taken down to the basement dungeon. The window glass was broken..it was dirty, the curtains didn't fit the window and was freezing cold. I spoke to staff who did move us upto level 3 to another room.I would not recommend this hotel for your stay in Eastbourne

The hotel was pretty but rundown. It had seen better years. No biscuits in room for coffee. Mattress bumpy, basic amenities. Bonus was they have a carpark but cost £8.00 per day to park.

We had a clean room, and unobstructed view of the sea, the room had no housekeeping daily, the first and last day we had a buffet breakfast, the second day it would appear that we had to order either with the cook or reception but we were not told of this, the third day the chef took our breakfast order.

The room became very cold overnight as the heating appeared to be switched off, and there was no option in the room to turn it back on. As a result, I had to contact reception to request an extra blanket. It seems the heating is controlled centrally or on a set schedule, which made the room quite uncomfortable during the night.

The room was disgusting, wall papper hanging of ceiling and walls, also stained with what looks like water marks, cobwebs round the windows and what has to be the most uncomfortable bed with only 1 pillow each which was lumpy and as hard as concrete, paint peeling off the walls, and drafty is an understatement, the windows are as rotton as hell, the place needs a co.plete refurbishment offthewalls, 1pullow each

Good value. Room very overheated and stuffy on arrival and it was very difficult to get a window open, then it only opened a crack. Had to have fan on by window whole time to try to waft the minimal cool, fresh outside air into room.
