This is a lovely hotel. The room was clean and nicely decorated. Fresh laundered white bedding and towels. Very good breakfast and we had one evening meal which was also very good. Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. Communal areas very impressive. Easy pleasant walk along the promenade into the centre of Torquay or by the 12 bus which stops outside the hotel.

A great place to stay in Torquay. Across the road from the beach and a short walk into town. Nice room and really good food in the restaurant, the breakfast is also very nice.

The public rooms were in good condition but rather dated, reflecting the hotel's ostentatious history. The corridors and fire doors to the rooms were in poor condition, some damaged paint, wallpaper and carpet. The room was small and dated but clean with plenty of storage. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast offered a great choice. Whilst it is becoming increasingly common, as a hotel guest, I don't like paying extra to park my car.

I always enjoy my stays at The Grand, and have visited annually for 16 years. The pool is fantastic and the ambience lovely. Great bar in wonderful setting with views of the bay, and reasonable prices for drinks. Breakfast is good and tasty, but I have never liked the marmalade, far too sweet and sickly, and I wish they could provide sourdough in this day and age. Rooms are clean and comfortable but found hot during my recent stay, and you cannot turn off the heated towel rail in the bathroom. The main thing which lets the hotel down is the reception staff. It is the same year after year. You can be overcharged, if not on the ball, and even though I sent an email explaining about my two bookings and who would be in each room (and received an affirmative response), there was utter confusion on arrival and departure, and we witnessed other guests experiering similar issues. They were blaming the new system, but it has been the same story at reception for years. If only they would get an efficient reception manager to sort them out, I could then give five stars.

The staff are helpful and did give us an upgrade . But the place is in desperate need for repairs. Showers and toilets don’t work very good , you have to flush multiple times and hard to get a good temperature, grab bar missing bolt ,and the rooms look rough.Ran into other people with the same issues. And we heard that the boss is a cheap and belittling man I would not recommend this place .

We stayed in a spacious family room with a beautiful sea view. The beds were comfortable and the linens were clean; we really liked the room's location. However, we had some issues with cleanliness—the carpet was dirty, and the bathtub drain was clogged, causing water to pool during showers. Also, the edges of the tub were not clean. On the positive side, the outdoor pool was open and heated, which our daughter really enjoyed. The pool area was well-decorated and maintained. The staff were helpful and polite. As for breakfast, it was quite ordinary with limited options, but they provided cheese once we asked for it. It met our expectations but wasn't anything spectacular.
