The Mill is a gem of a hotel with a picturesque location and walking distance from the main town facilities. The bedrooms are well-equipped and private parking is free for guests. Even though the hotel is very well appointed, the staff are friendly but not stuffy and it has a small hotel feel. The bar and dining room is spacious with the feature water wheel and views across the water meadows. The food is slightly more expensive than average pub grub, but it is tasty with good size portions. Looking forward to our next stay.

In the interest of fairness I have stayed at this hotel before and I had a much better stay… won’t be going back. This time i was given a room in an annex to the property. It was the hottest night of the year and none of the windows in the room would stay open – the window framed looked rotten and locks didn’t work. The room was boiling and the fan was plugged right over the other side of the room and so was useless. The plug sockets either side of the bed were not UK standard so I couldn’t plug the fan in next to my bed nor could I plug in my phone next to the bed. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. Had a terrible night sleep. Went down to reception to ask to be moved. The receptionist said she couldn’t do anything for me. I went down again and asked for an extension cord so I could actually bring the fan close to my bed – the extension cord didn’t work. I had to return to reception yet again to get another extension cord that finally worked and the fan was able to move closer to my bed. It’s just too hard to work for a bad night sleep. On a sidenote, my son was also staying in the hotel and he also had no plugs near his bed so his fan was on the other side of the room and he couldn’t charge any of his tech or use his phone as it had to be plugged in far away from the bedside What hotel room doesn’t have plug sockets next to the bed? This is two rooms in the property two randomly assigned rooms both of them with no plugs. Definitely won’t be staying again.

Dirty towels on the corridor floor for at least 20 hours. Room carpet badly stained. Room smelt musty and was tired and poorly equipped. Key cards kept failing and had to be reprogrammed. Communal areas were grim and unwelcoming. A very depressing stay despite the staff trying to be helpful.

The Mill Hotel is in an excellent position, overlooking the mill pond and adjoining common. There is ample parking nearby and it is just a short walk into the lovely town of Sudbury. There is an attractive restaurant and bar, with feature water wheel, and the food was good. The rooms were well equipped and the bed very comfortable. Due to the historic age of the hotel, there's no lift, which would have caused me problems if my room had been on an upper floor.

The room was absolutely delightful. The shower room & bathroom were spotlessly clean, with plenty of hot water. The tea tray also had a couple of packets of biscuits. I liked the fact that I could switch the radiator off at night. The window also opened. The bed was comfortable. I will return.
