Great location, steps from the seafront. Clean rooms, friendly & helpful staff. Ate in the bar downstairs, excellent food & menu. Car parking onsite a huge bonus. Thank you to all at Royal for a great stay.

Did not have any meals. Room was excellent except for steps down to bathroom. House keeping was excellent with tea coffee and biscuits topped up each day also towels changed when required. Staff were cheerful and friendly. Only concern was sometimes noise from large vent pipe at end of the hotel. Would definitely use hotel again but ask for room at other end of the hotel.

Avoid This Hotel If You Value Sleep! We have enjoyed several stays at this hotel in previous years. It is an historic 3-star Georgian hotel, built in early 19th century, so no double-glazing and air-con here! However do not stay here now, if you want a guaranteed sleep! We stayed overnight on a Friday and suffered blaring music from a neighbouring club. We are not party poopers, and understand a seaside town in summer will be busy with people enjoying themselves, but not until 4am! The street immediately outside the hotel was packed with people shouting and screaming, there were even girls lying in the middle of the road. The windows offered no soundproofing against the street chaos as the heavy music and shouting did not stop until 4am. I certainly wasn't going to get dressed at that time to go down 2 floors to complain. In the morning we were told numerous complaints had been made against the club, to no avail. We were also told that we should have asked for a quiet room when we booked! Does anyone want to be kept awake until 4am? Clearly the Premier Inn's good night guarantee does not apply here! So no bed, and a hearty breakfast was also then off limits, as we just wanted to drive home and have a decent sleep, so we simply had cups of coffee and fruit The buffet did look first class too.. The staff had been very helpful, but after complaining we did expect some compensation; a reduced offer for a future stay or a partial refund perhaps; but sadly we got nothing.

We were allocated room 308. Up the back stairs and along narrow corridors. The room was small and dark. The bathroom was tiny. The window overlooked the back yard, the dustbins and a huge extractor fan. The wind howled around the yard like a vortex. The staff were pleasant and the breakfast was nice. Location was near to the front and parking was free to residents.

We always stay at the Royal Hotel if we are in WSM for the night. In terms of being in a central location it can't be beaten. It's a traditional and spacious hotel. The staff always go above and beyond to assist you. It's a beautiful, old building. We had a twin room and the bathroom was larger than my living room. Wonderful sea views. I miss the view already! Very highly recommended. Haven't tried the food sadly but it looks delicious!

The staff were helpful and friendly on first arriving - the room was clean and suitable - the bar staff were friendly - We ate the Carvery on Sundsy which was lovely and we also had breakfast in the morning which was also lovely - make sure to book for evening meal as its very popular
