The room, premises and onsen were clean and comfortable. The amenities like "ice candy" were nice to have after soaking. The kaseiki meals were not only staggeringly beautiful but tasty as well. I would recommend the massages! The only criticism I would have is that I told they wouldn't give me an additional sticker to cover my tattoo on the second day. When I checked in the staff gave me a sticker to cover it up my tattoo which I did. I was staying a couple of nights so I took it off after the first night. The second day when I went to soak I went and asked for another sticker but for whatever reason they really didn't want to give me one. Unfortunately, I don't speak Japanese so wasn't too clear what the problem was. She kept saying they had already given me one and I told her I took it off and need another one. I offered to buy one. After some back and forth (with google translate) she gave in and gave me a sticker. It was very uncharacteristic of any interactions I've had in Japan.

Cool and interesting place to stay, but I couldn’t get past the fact that the whole place smelled like sewage (bidet odor), especially near the restaurant..pretty off-putting. The bathroom in our room had the same issue. For what they charge, they should really invest in some air purifiers. Dinner service was nice and we enjoyed the private onsen on our balcony. They advertise free Yakult, but we couldn’t find it anywhere. When we asked staff, they just told us to go to 7-Eleven. They did have complimentary ice cream, tea, milk, and free (if mediocre) ramen at 10:30 PM. There’s also a vending machine with lemon sours and beer for ¥200, which was a better deal than the overpriced craft beer we ordered through room service. A lot of loud guests took away from the zen atmosphere too. Overall, the traditional room and dinner were great, but I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Staff were very accommodating. The hotel has a shuttle service as well, which could come in handy. It also situated right by a 7/11, very convenient. Right by a bus stop that can connect you to other routes to major attractions. Walkable to and from the Open Air Museum. Room we booked was a western style with a private onsen. Beautiful view and loved having the onsen right in the room. Robes, extra towels and bottled water were waiting in the room with some treats. Overall a wonderful, beautiful stay.

Located about a 5-7 minute walk from the closest bus stop. We didn't spend too much time here as we were spending only 1 full day in Hakone, but got to make use of the many public baths that the ryokan offered. They have 3 private baths that are available on a first come first served basis that are covered "outdoor" baths, an indoor public bath, and wooden tubs located on the balconies of some room styles. We stayed in one of the more traditional Japanese-styled rooms and loved the decor of the room. Additionally, it was one of the most spacious rooms that we had stayed at during our time in Japan. My favourite of the baths was the private balcony bath, as the Ryokan supplies a lemon and a cedar block to add some fragrance to the bath, and it has a nice ambience overall. There is also a pull down set of blinds located on the balcony that are helpful in getting some privacy. I liked the outdoor private baths as well, however they were quite mosquito-y at nighttime. I would recommend bringing a face mask for sleeping as the window covers do not block out much light, and the sun rises quite early (5-5:30am) in May. We did not try the dinner as it was quite expensive (~9000 yen per person from what I can remember), however we were able to find a really tasty sushi restaurant in town that we went to instead. We would definitely come here again, but would try to stay a bit longer next time. :-)

Superb facilities. So many onsen- they had three private ones and two shared ones that rotated between men and women each day so you got to try a different one. I was there in peak season and had no issues getting into any of them. The grounds were so relaxing and the rooms so zen. It was a two minute walk from the bus stop that links you to the place you can get shinkansen or do the hakone loop and two mins from a 7/11! I bought my food there rather than eating at the hotel. I had the single room with western bed and it was so comfy. Totally recommend this place for a relaxing stay in the mountains
