The whole experience was wonderful from the food down to all of the staff that helped us out in so many ways.

At the time of our visit there was a strike and they were unable to serve dinner or provide you with 100% service . BUT those working did a fantastic job and have to be commended . They were brilliant and provided an excellent breakfast and looked after all the guests.This meant we enjoyed an excellent stay and would most certainly return . Well done to you all especially the general manager . Thank you .

Lovely hotel in a good location with the friendliest and most helpful staff.

The staff was amazing, so helpful and friendly. As we were boarding a cruise they stored our luggage for a couple of hours after checking out. The historic hotel itself was beautiful and well appointed. A small bar in the lobby and a gas fireplace in a cozy corner was delightful at day’s end. Very comfortable bed and chairs in room and dimmable lighting. A great location for touring and cruise pier, highly recommend!

The staff made us feel like family. Rosa, Hilde, Amalie, and Souad were always available and helpful when needed. The breakfast was amazing, especially the coffee refills and the omelets. The hotel facilities were very clean and the lobby was a comfortable place to sit and have a coffee, tea or drink depending on what we felt like. We cannot wait to return.

The hotel location was great, and the staffs provided excellent service. The breakfast was so good. I would rate it a 5-star hotel!

There was no dinner available as there was a strike going on.

When we booked the hotel there was a complimentary evening included. However due to there being a national strike in Norway in the hospitality and restaurant industry. This had been cancelled. The breakfast buffet was excellent. There was also a free traditional Fikar in the afternoon (coffee and cake). The staff were obviously working excessive hours due to the shortage of staff. I hope their hard work is duly rewarded by their management. I couldn't find fault with the hotel. Rosa the manager deserves the Order of St Olav for her commitment to the hotel and guests.

The breakfast was amazing. Very well located and old building all redo to new with a lot of history inside. Geat location, big rooms with a view. Amazing breakfast

Great hotel despite the housekeeping strike.

A very disappointing experience. Whilst the staff were friendly, there is a strike in the hotel industry in Norway which we were not informed of prior to our arrival. Therefore, the hotel services are not as expected and over our seven nights a lot of additional expense was incurred. Breakfast was plentiful, Fika was basically left over breakfast pastries and coffee, and dinner is not provided despite being part of the booking and so far no compensation for this has been offered despite complaining to the hotel, and to the parent company Strawberry. We purchased food in additional to the hotel costs already paid which amounted to in excess of £500.00 over seven nights for two people. Additionally with the strike, rooms are not refreshed and during our seven nights, no room bins were emptied (even though there were food stuffs in them), no coffees, toilet rolls etc were re-filled, floors not swept, and linen / towels were not refreshed once. As other reviews have stated, rooms are small and there is very limited hanging space and no drawer space. Unfortunately the hotel did not live up to expectations or the values stated on the Strawberry website. We have been very disappointed at the considerable additional expense incurred with no compensation for the services paid for and not provided.

Excellent breakfast, staff super friendly and helpful, great location.

Friendly staff, rooms were okay, breakfast was good. No dinner due to city wide strikes, which became quite expensive to find alternatives with Norwegian prices.

An outstanding, comfortable hotel in the center of the Btyggen Harbour area with the most genuine friendly welcoming staff that I’ve experienced. Our kingbed room was larger than expected and nicely appointed. It’s incredibly quiet, even though the the hotel was completely booked. The only thing is in the room is a place for storage of any clothing besides a few hangers. breakfast was excellent with a very good selection you to choose from.. There was a strike on in the hospitality industry when we arrived. Most hotels had closed Boston Marathon was on and the Bergen was packed. With very reduced that Paul did an amazing job accommodating and keeping people comfortable as possible.. I wouldn’t consider another hotel in Bergen again and we’ll definitely be back.

The breakfast was good but our booking included dinner but they could not provide it for us. That was the reason we booked this hotel. It was disappointing.

A massive marathon in town and a service worker strike left the majority of Bergen hotel properties at disadvantage.The manager informed us for these reasons they could not provide the included dinner. She offered an alcoholic beverage and a soft drink from the mini bar as consolation..... there is a nice good size convenience style grocery store next door where they had enough supplies to make up a dinner as most restaurants were also closed. Breakfast the following morning, (start of the marathon event), wad excellent and abover average in a wonderful comfortable well appointed dining space.... if you are boarding a cruise ship as we were it was very walkable about two blocks, but with the marathon it was Armageddon of people. No taxis were available just the particular date that caused the less than desirable stay.

They were able to let us check-in at 1130 after traveling all night. Very much appreciated
