Mercure Newcastle

The property is fine, clean, staff were friendly. It's a standard Mercure probably a 3.5 star.

Great customer service - really noisy hotel and very dated

Floor in the room was very wet from the leaking fridge. The girl at reception gave me towels to put on the soaked floor. The room smelled damp and generally bad. The staff were really nice and the food was good but the room was terrible.

Stayed overnight. Clean room and comfortable bed. A bonus was the bath. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Lots of yummy options for breakfast.

Parking is definitely a problem at this motel. You cannot reserve a park but if you don't arrive until late and have driven 5-6 hours to get to Newcastle it would be nice to know a Parking spot is waiting for you when you arrive.

I regularly stay at the Mercure in Newcastle without any issues. My most recent stay was probelmatic and help from staff poor when I contacted them about the issue. The TV's at the Mercure in Newcastle are very basic, not like most hotels at this level, and all other Mercures that I have stayed in across Australia - some examples in NSW - Penrith, Goulburn, Blacktown where they would go out of their way to assist. At Newcastle they use Chromecast, the room I was in did not work, contacted reception and was told, of many of our TV's will not work using the Chromecast, it is an internet, hotel wifi issue. I said I am in room 505, can you do anything - a very blunt "no, room 505 is one of the problem rooms"! Also, room 505 faces the front and the nightclub or whatever it is across the road is a nightmare for noise, usually worse on the weeknd but something must have been happenning there earlier in the week as I was kept awake both nights with massive bass noise. Fells like a sonic boom! Much better I have found if your room faces the rear car park. Again - no help.

Shes a bit tired. But fine for a night or two. Staff were super helpful

Great staff Little things overlooked

The greeting when checking in was very cold and unfriendly… A smile would’ve been welcomed! a welcoming attitude would’ve been nice too. Nothing about the services were explained nothing about the meal. Nothing about the Internet or anything along those lines. It was just a very cold and what seem to be a robotic check-in.The hotel is very outdated but comfortable There weren’t any USB charges that I could see in the room. The beds were comfortable. unfortunately there was no body wash in the bathroom. It was completely empty.. check out process was easy and quick

bathrooms are dated with step into bath / shower hotels.com silver members offers like free parking not provided no upgrade or free bottle of wine / free breakfasts

Good stay

The property is in a good position in the city and the staff were really lovely. The room itself was a bit old and had a few questionable stains on the floor and ceilings but the bed was comfortable. Good for a short term stay!
