A warm welcome, complimentary upgrade and drinks. What a great start. The hotel location is fantastic and our room looked over the Botanic gardens. Spacious, comfortable. The bathroom was very outdated and the shower/bath plumbing needed attention. Apart from that the hotel was lovely, nice bar area and a lovely restaurant. We will definitely stay there again next time we are in Brisbane.

We book a few days at the Royal on the Park every year to shake off any jet lag from our flight out from the UK. This year we also booked a night before taking a Uber to the cruise terminal. The staff at the Royal are always very helpful and we've nevr had need to raise issues regarding room clenliness. We always book a room with a view of the botanic gardens.

My husband and I have stayed at Royal on the Park many times but this was the first time taking the kids into the city. Of course we stayed at Royal on the Park as it’s our fav and the kids loved it too. The kids made their own phone calls to get another blanket and for room service in the morning. The staff were very helpful and not only did it make the kids so happy but they were very proud of themselves for making the call themselves. Great service as always.

Room is big but old especially the toilet. No complimentary water for entry room. Location is decent, walkable 10mins to main street. Parking ample space. All tap leaking water slowly even when fully closed, the tap and the bathtub. Then even the toilet bowl was leaking water so it couldn't be flushed anymore. Made a complaint to front desk and they shifted us to a new upgraded room and mentioned waiver on carpark. Had to repack and upgraded room was pretty much the same except higher floor and the toilet seems newer. However instead of bathtub, it is now a shower only. Shower water temperature fluctuates greatly. Next day front desk said no carpark waiver and had to check with multiple people to verify our issues. They asked questions like what issue we faced and what time we changed our room. Information like these could be easily found within their system like when key card was issued. In the end it was eventually waived but it was toned and worded in a way that they did a one time special exemption for us and we should be grateful. Horrible experience and if it was such a big deal, don't offer such things in the first place.

My room was clean and quiet, except for the air conditioner, which was quite loud. I was on the eighth floor, so I assume this is why the water pressure was lower than it should be. The toilet also took a couple of flushes each time to clear. Room service is easy to order and quite quick; however, the food was not great. For the money it costs, it is severely lacking. I ordered bacon and eggs and an iced latte for breakfast. For $35+ you would expect more than 1 piece of pre-buttered toast - especially since it was just supermarket white bread. The tomato was not ripe (actually white and hard) and not cooked as described. My iced latte came up as a hot latte, not what I ordered. I saw a lot of uneaten food on plates, outside room doors - so I can only think that everyone felt the same as me about the food - not up to scratch. The hotel itself needs a good revamp. It is tired, and much of the decor is old, and it shows. Pictures on the walls had dust and bits between the glass and the prints. The furniture in the reception/lobby area is old, worn and smells stale and of body odour - I chose to wait outside for my driver as I could not stand the smell emanating from the couches. From the construction around the property, I have a feeling this hotel won't be there in 3 years - it will be bought, demolished, and fancy towers with hotels and accommodation will be built on the site. This is probably known to current owners, hence not throwing money into refurbs/updates.

The hotel is superb. The concierge was wonderful and very helpful. He was charming and charasmatic. The young waitress from Zimbabwe was equally as lovely. Sadly the only person who let the team down was the rather rude senior barman (Asian man with his hair tied back). He was more concerned about keeping his unbuttoned jacket from getting dirty. His manners were certainly lacking in short rude and obnoxious. The surrounding area of the hotel was lovely, nice to walk around and do some sightseeing.
