Great location. Friendly staff. Clean room. Good price. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that. We did have a drink at the bar which was fairly reasonably priced for a hotel. This hotel offers very good value for money.

We appreciated being allowed to check in early and being given a room on the top floor as requested in advance. We also particularly liked the quiet and walkable neighborhood, the proximity to the docks, the dining and relaxation areas, the complete breakfast, and several of the dinner selections which we enjoyed both of our 2 nights at the hotel. The only negative aspect was the extremely small size of our room in which we could barely open and make use of our luggage.

I needed somewhere to stay for one night whilst attending a concert in Portsmouth. For a one night stay I usually turn to Travelodge or Premier Inn. They were both unavailable so I booked the Ibis at a cost of £130.00 for the night. The check-in was quite slow. It took the sfatt quite a while to deal with other customers. My room was clean but tiny. There was no room to move around. The batrhroom was the tiniest I have ever experienced. I am. thankfully, relatively slim (save for a bit of a middle aged man belly) but if I was much larger it would have been a struggle to manoevre myself onto the toilet or into the shower. You would need to be on very good terms with anyone you shared this room with and very forgiving of their bodily functions. The bar area was more reminiscnent of a hostel than a hotel. The sitting area is not very comfortable with very basic tables and chairs and some sofas and a pool table. It was perfectly adequate but not a hint of anything more than basic. The beer was relatively cheap and the food was adequate. It was absolutely fine for one night but I was expeting more for what I paid. In terms of room size and quality of the bar area, the Portsmouth central Travelodge ar Premier Inn are better choices.

Very nice place just outside the Portsmouth historic harbour area, but walkable in only 15 minutes or so. Nice room but the bathroom and toilet were very small. A larger person would have trouble fitting into the toilet space I believe.

As usual, IBIS provided a small room that somehow has a place for all of our possessions. Hooks, shelves, hangers, small tables, good lighting and a large comfortable lobby/entertainment area. The staff were very helpful including storing our luggage for 12 hours on our last day. The carpet in our room did have several nasty spills on it that should be corrected before the room is rented again. We liked the Hideout for coffee and fresh pastries, one block. There are quite a few cafes and shops by the Guildhall, and an extensive shopping area a few blocks beyond that. The cafe across the road on the 5th floor of the university building was not operational. Walking to Southsea or Gunwharf Quay is about 15 minutes. The Millenium Promenade was one of our favorite things in Portsmouth and it's free. Also, Osborne House on the Isle of Wight was pretty great.

Breakfast was nice, except the bacon, which was overcooked and chewy, possibly as a result of being out too long. Everything else was fine and, as it's a buffet, you can help yourself to whatever you want. The room was OK, although the bathroom is rather compact; I wouldn't want to have to towel dry myself with the bathroom door closed. These are minor issues, though. The staff were all very polite and helpful and everything was clean.

Absolutely tiny room/shower room. No room to move in the shower room. Signs of black mould on the ceiling. Random fake rock face walls in corridors felt very claustrophobic. Noisy at the weekend due to a nightclub across the road - loud music until 3am. Other guests were also very noisy late at night. Doors didn't help as it was impossible to close them quietly. Convenient location for city centre, harbour and train station. Good breakfast and very nice staff, but unfortunately we won't be staying here again unless the rooms have a total redesign and makeover.
