Hotel Nouvel

The Hotel Nouvel was in a convenient location a block off La Rambla and very close to Placa Catalunya, making it easy to connect to the airport or train station. Yet, once off La Rambla, it was quieter and more peaceful. The hotel spaces are smaller than they look on the website but they were historic and interesting. Our room was very small and one night we had neighbors in the next room and we could hear their conversations clearly. But the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. When we arrived, we were charged more than expected (and quoted by Hotels.com) for local taxes. Perhaps due to currency changes? There was a restaurant, bar, and breakfast room but when we were checked in staff did not mention these amenities to us. Breakfast was served too late for us to opt in at any rate. There is an extra charge for this but if you want a quick coffee/tea and a croissant or other breakfast item, there are numerous places open early on the same block and on the next for a small price. We avoided La Rambla for the most part due to the tourists and construction and walked the other direction where there is a lively street 2 blocks away and you are close to sites like the Palau de Musica Catalana. It's also within walking distance to the Gothic Quarter. Overall, we were pleased with our stay due to the convenience of the location.

Our room was a little disappointed because as a couple we were given 2 twin beds so at night I had to shove them together and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. Location, however was excellent.

I really liked this property. Everything around is walkable. Good restaurants walking distance, shopping and great sites. Staff all very kind. As solo traveler room worked great for me and the Shower awesome cause all the walking you do nothing like a good shower to relax.

Great location, convenient to major tourist sights, the gothic quarter and La Rambla. There are many cafes, bakeries, and restaurants nearby, so there was no need to pay for the rather expensive breakfast add-on. The room was clean but small (typical of older European hotels). The bed was reasonably comfortable and the bathroom was modern. In-room amenities were pretty basic (a mini-refrigerator would have been useful), but overall, given how little time we spent in the room, we felt that this was a good value for a short stay in Barcelona.

Great location! Staff was super helpful and fantastic.

Well maintained with very good water pressure, showers, etc. on the pricy side but clean, easy to find, reliable, and the breakfast was typical of continental breakfast. No refrigerator in room.

Lovely turn-of-the-century style, very nice breakfast buffet, room with balcone, helpful staff. Room and bathroom could use a bit of an update. Great location. Enjoyed it for five nights.
