Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) is the international airport serving Yogyakarta in Indonesia. It sits in Temon, in Kulon Progo Regency, within the Special Region of Yogyakarta, about 45 km west of Yogyakarta city. InJourney Airports, the state-owned Indonesian airport company, operates it. One passenger terminal building holds separate domestic and international areas. Many Indonesians simply call it Bandara YIA, and you will also hear it described as the Kulon Progo airport.
Yogyakarta has a second, older airport: Adisutjipto Airport (JOG) in Sleman, about 43 km from YIA. When you book, check which of the two your flight uses, because they are far apart.
Domestic and international flights share the same terminal building, each with its own area. If you are flying in from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore, you arrive in the international area and clear immigration there before stepping out into the public hall.
The schedule table further down shows which airlines have upcoming flights, and your e-ticket names the one operating your booking. Check whether your flight is domestic or international too, as that decides which area of the terminal you need.
At around 45 km, the trip into Yogyakarta is longer than many visitors expect, so choose your transport before you land. Fares are shown at the counter or in each operator's app.
The airport train, KA Bandara YIA, is run by KAI and leaves from the Yogyakarta International Airport railway station at the airport. It goes to Yogyakarta (Tugu) station in the city. The regular service stops at Wates, while the Xpress service runs non-stop, and the journey takes about 35 to 45 minutes by train. Because it runs on rail, it is not held up by road traffic.
DAMRI airport buses connect YIA with Yogyakarta and nearby towns. Routes include Adisutjipto Airport, Purworejo, Kebumen and Magelang. Travel time depends on traffic, so allow plenty of margin.
Taxis, app-based ride-hailing and car rental are all available at the airport. They take you door to door, which helps with heavy bags or late arrivals, but the road journey depends on traffic.
At YIA, plan around your airline's check-in cut-off on the booking, and add the time it takes to get out to the airport from the city. For flights to Malaysia or Singapore, leave extra time for immigration on departure.
Indonesian entry rules, and any arrival declaration, are set by the government rather than the airport, so check the official guidance for your passport before you travel. For the latest times on the day, use the Traveloka flight status page.
The fare cards on this page show fares for popular routes from Yogyakarta, and the schedule table lists upcoming flights at YIA by date, airline and scheduled time. It is a selection, not every flight, so use it to compare a few options, then search your own dates. Set a Price Alert if you want to wait for a better fare; once you book, your e-ticket arrives by email and in the Traveloka app.
