Location

Incheon airport sits on reclaimed land on Yeongjong Island, part of the city of Incheon, to the west of Seoul. Long bridges connect the island to the mainland, and the island itself has restaurants and leisure spots for travellers with time to spare.

Terminals

ICN has two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 is the original building and Terminal 2 is newer, and airlines are split between them. A free shuttle train and bus link the two, but the transfer takes time, so check your terminal on the e-ticket before heading back for departure. Getting to and from the airport

The AREX railway is the easiest way into Seoul. The express train runs non-stop to Seoul Station, while the all-stop commuter service calls at Gimpo Airport, Digital Media City and Hongik University along the way. Airport limousine buses leave from outside arrivals for Myeongdong, Gangnam, Jamsil and other districts, and taxis run around the clock. Direct and connecting flights to Seoul Incheon

Non-stop flights between Kuala Lumpur and Incheon are widely available, often including overnight departures that land early in the morning. When to fly to Seoul Incheon

Where to stay in Seoul

Staying near Seoul Station is practical if you use the AREX express, since the line starts there. Myeongdong and Jung-gu are a short hop away and full of shops. Hongdae and Mapo suit travellers on the all-stop AREX line who want nightlife. Itaewon draws Muslim visitors with the Seoul Central Mosque and halal eateries, and Dongdaemun is handy for night shopping. For very early departures, a night on Yeongjong Island near the airport saves an early transfer.
