We stayed one night. The building definitely possesses an old world charm, but it was pricey given the limited amenities (old TV, no windows you could see through, ancient hairdryer). Staff were nice enough but there were a lot of instructions and rules straight off the bat. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Was not a fan of the constant posted warnings that persons who weren't registered guests would be expelled if found in the corridors. It's a hotel, not a prison! Could not find the 'arcades' room. 'Billiards room' had one pool table and a long line. Unimpressed.

The ac did not keep the room cool, kind of warm though out the stay. It was difficult getting up and down the steps with my luggage, and I did use the lift. Staff, food, wine, and location were outstanding!

Great location, close to cafes, shops, train station and hop on/off bus, which loops past all the attractions. Nice bar and lounge for a relaxing drink at the end of the day. Enjoyed our three night stay.

Beautiful hotel with a lot of history. I stayed in a room with the bathroom down the hall. I was surprised to find I still had my own bathroom, with a locked door, in what I would call a suite of bathrooms. The staff was exceptionally welcoming and helpful.

The property is obviously old and it shows. Expedia told me I can expect a continental breakfast, none were offered and absolutely refused. I booked a superior room and given a room overlooking a metal roof and a crane and was offered to a further upgrade for additional fee of $70 per night.

This grand old hotel has been restored to fairly modern standards while maintaining the unique, interesting and historical style of early 20th century society. It was a great privilege to stay here and I will gladly visit again if circumstances allow.

Such a unique property! Lots of charm and history in this hotel. Room was basic, and very warm. (No A/C and a broken stand fan). Supplying robes would have been nice, especially since our bath/shower facilities were down the hall. Good place for a 1-2 night stay.
