What Guests Say About Their Stay

Chetan

Location: Excellent and walkable to most attractions Parking: Closeby, bit hard to find but a phone call to hotel made it easier to locate it. Rooms: clean and good ambience, justice to money paid Breakfast: Staff very efficient, lots of options, value for money for Breakfast Front desk: Good and coordial staff, helpful. Only improvement i would suggest is when booking breakfast, customer need to come down to pay at desk to avail discounted rate. If that can be either added to room charge to pay at checkout or a way to pay online, it will be helpful. Otherwise, our stay was excellent and whenever we will visit Plymouth in future, we will stay at this hotel. This site was much hetter than other Leonardo hitels we stayed in the UK so far.

Stayed here many times previously. Excellent stay again no issues. Little disappointed with the check in guy who stated I had been given a complimentary upgrade to an executive room. This was not the case and it was a standard room. Why lie? I’m not a novice traveller. Quite frankly I could not be bothered to complain . Smoking area outside the bar was in a terrible state! It was dirty disgusting with lots of rubbish inc broken bottles and glasses. Ashtrays were brimful and hadn’t been emptied for ages. Chris and all his colleagues at breakfast were fantastic. Totally professional helpful and in good vibes.

Bit difficult to establish where the parking is as not part of the hotel, otherwise enjoyed the short stay, mainly to see the Beryl Cook Exhibition nearby. Breakfasts are really good, the bar meals are the same as the restaurant but we were unable to use it as it was always fully booked. We chose to use the bar & staff, particularly Josh, were pleasant, helpful & attentive. Plymouth as a whole is looking very sad & needs a lot of attention!

The bed was firm & comfortable, and the shower was good and hot. There was a good selection at breakfast - nice breads, well-cooked hot food, and a reasonable range of healthy options. Everything was very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only downsides were noise related: the bedroom windows could have done with another layer of glazing as there was quite a lot of activity going on outside at times overnight - luckily I had earplugs - and the music was really far too loud at breakfast.

The rooms haven't really been updated since the hotel first opened. The windows barely work as double glazed anymore, letting in the cold and noise. I wouldn't like to stay here in winter. I'm sorry, but just putting a heavy curtain in front is not enough. I love the place for it's location and many memories but I'm having serious doubts about staying here again. The staff are lovely but under a lot of pressure. I didn't eat here but the bar was so empty I wouldn't bother. Lots of promotion about the Leonardo loyalty scheme claiming that you get cheaper rates by joining, every time I tried this Hotels.com came in cheaper, so compare before you book (if you really have to)

Hotel is just on the outskirts of the town centre, making it easy to get to, and easy walking distance from most areas. Directly across from Drakes Circus shopping centre. Parking in the nearby car park is useful and cheap for 24 hours. The lift in the car park seems to be permanently out of order, so we walked up/down the entrance ramp with our suitcases, which was much easier than climbing the stairs - one to consider if you have mobility issues. Reception staff were all friendly, and we were upgraded to an Exec suite which was a nice surprise. I checked in online the day before, which seemed to speed things up a bit, but it wasn't very busy when we arrived, so this may be different at peak check in time. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. There was some noise from the streets at the back of the hotel, but you only heard it if you had the window open. The bathroom is a bit dated, but is functional and clean. We've stayed here several times, and would definitely stay again. It's usually one of the cheaper options, and works well for us.

A wonderful welcome at reception and an upgrade to an executive room was especially pleasing. The location and external appearance are perhaps the hotel’s less positive features, but the quality of my room & brilliant customer service more than made up for slight reserves about the location.
