Clean and comfortable with competent staff. The free breakfasts have a wide variety of dishes, and you can order omelettes for no extra charge. The staff speak English reasonably well, so logistics are fairly easy (getting taxis, changing booking details, etc.). The rooms are spacious and offer nice views of the city. The only negatives are things beyond the hotel's control: occasional city-wide power outages and water shutoffs.

I've been to Addis many times, and currently this is the hotel that gives you about the best value for money. The eggs for the breakfast are overboiled, and I am overall not fond of the breakfast meal, but apart from that, this is a good hotel with spotless cleaning and good service. Transport to and from airport is a pro, but one sometimes has to call when arriving at the airport to make sure they are there (I have stayed at the hotel four times). I will come again. There is now wireless Internet connection on every floor (two connection points on each floor).

The service at the Soramba was generally poor, ranging from having to constantly wait for service while staff talked to each other, and the woeful front desk, who promised a letter for me on three occasions, and, that aside, were generally disengaged. Two exceptions were the cleaners, who were excellent, and one of the night managers, who was proactive and responsive.

Good value for money hotel. Small but adequate balcony affords lovely views of the daily comings and goings of the city and the mountains in the background. Great place to spend a day or two acclimatising to the altitude. Easy walking distance to St George's Church and can also walk to the main museums. Food adequate to good. Affordable laundry service. Only downside was the erratic internet service and inadequate hot water.

The arrival was fine, despite the delay by the airline and immigration clearance, the driver was there waiting for me. At the hotel I took 2 hours to be served with a menu book to choose the food food, from, despite repeated calls, the menu was delivered 2 hours later. The food was cold as usual. Now the morning shuttle, it started with no wake call up, when I asked the receptionist indicated that, maybe the phone was not working, but noone was send for me. Now the shuttle bus had a puncture and was given a small delivery van, very uncomfortable, It was travelling at most 20 - 40 KM/Hr very slow indeed. The driver did not know the terminal, we get lost and end up terminal 1 instead of terminal 2. If it was a busy day, I was going to miss my flight.

Overnight was quiet and the wake up call was on time. Ethiopia airline delayed and the person waiting for me gave my name tag to a sister hotel. But despite numerous calls, it took 2 hours to be picked up to the hotel after checking out of the airport. The promise was always in 10 minutes. I have booked the hotel again on my return, hopefully it will take less time, despite the delayed by the airline.

The Soramba Hotel is very nice. My room was very clean when I arrived and thoroughly cleaned each day. The restaurant served good food, and the wifi in the lobby/wired internet in the room ranged from being decent to excellent. And the free airport shuttle was a great bonus! The only drawback is that the hotel is quite removed from the rest of the city. The purpose of my travel was business, which was located a couple kilometers from the Soramba. Addis traffic around rush hour is a nightmare, and it often took up to 30 minutes to go a few km.

First things first, I stayed at this hotel from October 9th - 17th. More than once, I expressed my disappointment with management regarding the false advertising of Wi-Fi being available in the rooms. I asked them to contact Expedia and have that amenity removed. I have waited this long to write the review in hopes that Soramba (with Expedia's help) would do the right thing and remedy this situation. But as of November 5th, 2013 at 11:03pm (GMT +3), the hotel still lists the following... Under Room Amenities, it has "Free Wi-Fi". Under Internet, it has "Available in all rooms - Free Wi-Fi". This is a lie. False advertisement. Wi-Fi is only avalaible in the lobby, restaurant, & bar. There is wired access to internet in the rooms. Hope this helps other travelers who need to be connected to the web make a decision. Other than that, I had a pretty decent stay. I did leave a comment card with the hotel upon my departure mentioning my disappointment with their false advertising and also the need for breakfast to be upgraded dramatically. Other than those two things, I can't think of anything else to complain about. The room was clean & comfortable. The balcony was convenient. The selection of food for lunch, dinner, and late meals was truly international & delicious.

I spent 3 nights at Soramba hotel and the hotel was neat and comfortable with good interior ambience. I must mention that the warmth and willingness of hotel staff to assist is what my stay memorable. They eagerly gave directions, were constantly asking how I was doing, a staff even gave a sim card so I reach my family. The hotel also provided free airport shuttle on my way out of the country. If I come back to Addis Ababa, I will definitely stay there again. Only issue for me was that there is no means of controlling the temperature in the room although the weather was generally OK. It was quite cold during the night and pleasantly sunny during the day.
