Penawar is an urban area located in the southern part of the state of Johor in the middle of the Pengerang Kecil Region. The whole area is an agricultural area of oil palm. The Bandar Penawar area was first discovered in 1972 by the Southeast Johor Development Authority or the abbreviation of KEJORA established under the Parliamentary Act 75/1972 and the Southeast Johor Development Board Enactment 1972. With a total area of 1,314,333 hectares, this new area is part of 300,364 hectares which is 16% of the Johor State area which has been allocated by the Johor State Government to be developed under KEJORA. Among the public facilities available in Bandar Penawar are mosques, surau, multipurpose halls, community halls, sports complexes, bus and taxi stops, schools, fire stations, police stations, post offices, health policlinics, food courts and public libraries. The construction of this library was taken over by the Johor Public Library on 28 March 2005 and was able to attract more residents to Bandar Penawar to find reference materials and resources.

How to Get There

By Car

It takes around 3 hours and 45 minutes to Bandar Penawar from Kuala Lumpur city centre by using North- South highway.

By Plane

There are flights daily to Senai International Airport from Subang Airport or KLIA2. It consumes around 45 minutes and another 55 minutes journey by car or taxi to Bandar Penawar via Senai- Desaru highway.

Desaru Beach

Desaru's beaches are among the best in Johor due to their cleanliness lined with casuarina trees and visitors can enjoy fun- filled activities such as fishing, boating, swimming, hiking as well as other outdoor activities.
