Kuala Muda District is a district in Kedah, Malaysia and Sungai Petani acts as the administrative center. Apart from Sungai Petani, other major towns in the district include Tikam Batu, Padang Tembusu, Sungai Lalang, Bedong, Bukit Selambau, Sidam, Gurun, Semeling, Merbok, Kota Kuala Muda and Tanjung Dawai. The Mount Jerai is shared with the neighboring district of Yan while the Muda River is shares the bordering state of Penang. Bedong is a small town and located in Kuala Muda District, to the north of Sungai Petani, and is considered the gateway to Bujang Valley and Gunung Jerai. It is around 12 kilometres and a site of The Permaipura Golf & Country Club.

How to Get There

By Car

From Kuala Lumpur, it takes around 4 hours and 15 minutes to reach Bedong town by using North- South highway (Sungai Petani South exit) whereas you can also use alternative road which is by using Sungai Petani North exit.

By Plane

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport at Sepang to Bayan lepas airport, it usually takes 50 minutes by flights such as Firefly, Malindo Air and other available domestic flights. You can rent a car or take a cab for another 1 hour and 10 minutes journey by using North- South highway.

Forest Recreation Tupah

Forest Recreation Tupah is a protected forest area and a lowland dipterocarp forest located around 14 kilometres from the town of Bedong. Tupah Recreational Forest is located at an elevation of between 100-200 meters above sea level with a gushing river running through it. This forest is well-known with the locals who come here to picnic and bathe. This picnic center is really popular among residents and visited by a lot of peoples, especially during the school holidays. Some facilities that are available at the picnic center such as surau, public toilets and food stalls. Besides that, visitors also can have fun while enjoying the lush flora and fauna in the forest reserve.

The Tree Top Sungai Sedim

Tree Top Walk Sungai Sedim is about 30- minute drive from the town of Bedong and is the world’s longest rainforest canopy walk with a length of 925 metres and a height of 26 metres up above the forest floor at its highest point. It was built within the low land of dipterocarp of Gunung Inas Forest Reserve. Visitors can enjoy the fabulous sight of rushing streams and truly fascinating flora and fauna in Kedah. It took 14 months to build and was completed in March 2005. This attraction is open everyday from 9am to 5pm except during extreme weather condition like raining, lightning or very windy conditions. Visitors are advised to please wear proper shoes or sandals and please call or e-mail the person in charge in advance if you are bringing tour groups and inform the arrival time and approximate number of person.
