Parit Jawa is one of the cities in the district of Muar. Muar is in the state of Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Parit Jawa is 15 kilometers from Muar and 39 kilometers from Batu Pahat. Previously Parit Jawa was known as ‘Padang’ or ‘field’. Johor used to own colonize Parit Jawa due to its location on the west coast of Muar District and has a wide, low, flat and even as well as no hills geographical build up. Padang used to be 13 kilometer big, this expands from Parit Perupuk until Parit Jawa.
Now Parit Jawa has a land as big as 71 kilometers wide with the population of 11,319 people. It takes around 20 minute’s car ride to get to Muar from Parit Jawa. It is now a small fishing village where the people live a simple life. There is a river inside Parit Jawa where it connects to the seaport. This is where the villagers would take their boats out and fish. During the evening, the fishermen who are done with their daily catch will spend their time with other fishermen chatting or playing Chinese chess or just prepare for tomorrow’s fishing trip.
The language used here is Bahasa Melayu however since the population of the Chinese are rather large here therefore it is often heard where Mandarin or Cantonese language is spoken here as well.
How to Get There
By Plane
One can take a local flight such as AirAsia or Malaysia Airlines and Firefly and fly to Johor Bahru which is the capital of Johor. From there one may hire a taxi to go to Parit Jawa. It might cost a little as the distance is not that close.
By Car
From Kuala Lumpur, one can take the North-South Expressway and drive their way south towards Johor. By taking the exit 235 where it will exit at Tangkak / Muar /Segamat. From there making the way towards Parit jawa is not that far anymore. The distance would be around 198.2 kilometers. The drive will take around 2 and a half hours.
By Bus
To take the bus, one must first go to Muar. Then one will need to take a local city bus to go to Parit Jawa. This is due to the fact that Parit Jawa is a smaller place within Muar. Therefore the express buses only make their way to the big city. Bus tickets to Muar can be bought Terminal Bersepadu Selatan.

Bird Watching
In Parit Jawa itself, birds have used the area as a passage for their journey to look for a warmer weather. During June to August, it will be a common sight to see birds flying around looking for food and just roams the sky. So from the village itself, one can just enjoy bird watching in the evening. It will be a great time to get to know more about the types of birds and perhaps try photography. Family members can teach the little ones a thing or two about the bird migration process as well.
Leka Beach
Leka Beach that is located nearby Parit Jawa is a place that is commonly visited by the locals to enjoy the sunset view. Here, would be a good place to bird watch as well. In the evening, the wind is just nice for a picnic as well as for kite flying. There are few restaurants nearby where you may sit, enjoy good food while looking at the sunset.
Gersik Hot Spring
Just a little outskirt of Parit Jawa, this place has several pools of different temperatures that cater to all age level. It may be very hot suitable for those who can withstand the heat or it can also be luke warm which may be gentle to the body. This is a place where many would go to enjoy a relaxing dip after making a long journey to Muar.
