Muar is a historical town of the state Johor, Malaysia. It is the fourth largest city in Johor after Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat and Kluang. It is also known as Bandar Maharani. The name originated and derived from their geographical location where they are located at the mouth or estuary of Muar River.

The people of this city use Bahasa Melayu as their main form of communication. The people in this area consist of all the races such as Malay, Chinese and Indians. How to Get There

By Plane

The nearest airport is Senai Airport in Johor Bahru. One can take a local flight such as Air Asia or Malaysia Airlines and Firefly and fly to Johor Bahru which is the capital of Johor. From there one may hire a taxi to go to Muar.

By Car

Those who are driving from Kuala Lumpur may take the North-South Expressway and head south towards Johor. By taking exit 235 it will lead to Tangkak then a drive through the local roads will lead to Muar.

By Bus

There is no direct bus to Muar from other big cities in other states in Malaysia. Therefore visitors will need to take the express bus to Johor Bahru first then take the local bus to Muar.

Gunung Ledang

Gunung Ledang is the famous mountain based on the legend of Princess of Mount Ledang. This mountain is 30 kilometer from the city. It is Johor’s tallest mountain at the height of 1267 meters. There are camp sites and those who come may climb to the peak and also enjoy a waterfall nearby it.

Nasuha Spices & Herbs Farm

Located 19 kilometer from the city, it is the largest herb farm in the city. It also has a museum that displays the many variety of spices and herbs, a restaurant that cooks using their own herbs, a herbal spa, a resort and a processing plant inside the farm.
