Firstly, its highest point, located in the middle of the island, stands 600 metres above sea level. The island also comprises of 8 smaller islets that are ideal for island-hopping, swimming and snorkeling. Its long coastline, which is dotted with caves, is home to coral reefs teeming with marine life, making it a haven for underwater photography. Declared as a protected Marine Park, Pulau Tinggi is also home to a museum, a turtle hatchery, as well as a charming Malay village.

How to Get There

By Boat

Though it is a secluded and virtually untouched island, it is easily accessible, as a 30-minute speed-boat ride will bring you from the Tanjung Leman Pier to the island. Prior arrangement should be made with the operator of the TAd Marine resort to determine the time of arrival and departure to the resort. Usually the resort will make the arrangement of the speed boat to take you to the resort. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the island from the jetty. If you are driving, there is an open space car park at the jetty that costs RM8 per day.

Kampung Tanjung Balang

The main village where the population concentrate is Kampung Tanjung Balang. This village has a school, mosque, police station and clinic. Other villages are Kampung Pasir Panjang and Kampung Sebirah Besar. The north-east of the island is uninhabited as it is rocky with high cliffs.
