Rhu Muda is a name of a village located in the district of Marang, Terengganu, Malaysia. It is located on the South China Sea coast which is in between the bigger Kuala Terengganu district and Kuantan district of Pahang state with very close proximity to the beach. From the historical point of view, Marang was established way back 1839. Initially it was administered by the district dignitaries which oversee the villages within their own jurisdictions. Then the system was changed with a single district officer which administers the river districts that makes up Marang. The benefit is received when the first district office for Marang was built in 1915. When the British made their way in the 1920s, J L Humphreys which is the very first British commissioner for Terengganu state has introduced a new territorial management system that includes Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Berang and Marang under the Central Colony jurisdiction.

Post-1985, the Marang district was revised to add another two sub-districts, Bukit Payong and Alor Limbat into its jurisdiction. Collectively as a district, Rhu Muda and Marang have always been dependent on fishery as their main economic drive. Nonetheless in the recent few years, a surge in tourism and development works to boost tourism industry have been going on rapidly in the area. This is majorly contributed to their role in being the main access point to Kapas Island, which is one of the significant islands for tourism in the country. People looking forward to access the island eventually flocked Marang and Rhu Muda gets the spoils of the influx of visitors, spawning multiple beach resorts and homestays which are being run by the locals themselves.
