Selayang is a town located in the Gombak district, Selangor. How to Get There

By Car

Selayang can be reached through Jalan Ipoh as it lies on the main route of Kuala Lumpur-Rawang route. Selayang is also an optional getaway to Damansara by using the Kepong-Selayang Highway. Jalan Batu Caves is a route connecting Selayang and Gombak.

By Bus

There is a free Selangor Smart shuttle bus service with the Gombak-Selayang routes that covers stops at Selayang Stadium, Gombak police station, Selayang Hospital, Taman Selayang Baru, Taman Greenwood, Batu Caves temple, the International Islamic University Malaysia campus and the Putra Terminal, Gombak. Other bus operators with route to Selayang include the SJ Bus Company and the RapidKL buses.

Batu Caves Temple

Batu Caves temple is a Hindu temple consisted of three big, 400 million years old limestone caves. There is a total of 272 steps of staircase leading up to the main cave temple entrance. The world’s tallest Lord Muruga statue with the height of 42.7 metres is also located here which attracted the crowd especially during the Thaipusam festival celebrated annually.

Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM)

FRIM is a leading institute in tropical forestry research that offers recreational location for activities such as fun canopy walks, jungle trekking, camping and picnic sites with great waterfall. The various species of flora and faunas in FRIM are protected and tagged carefully.

Metropolitan Park @ Kite Park

A public family park with large open fields for flying kites since the outlying sky is quite windy. Apart from that, there is a jogging and cycling track around a lake, whereby storks can be found feeding by the lakeside. There is also a children’s playground and stalls selling drinks and snacks.
