Teluk Bahang is a quiet little fishing village town in Southwest Penang Island District. The name Teluk Bahang means the “Bay of Heat Wave”, referring to the high temperature of the sea breeze coming in to shore. Its beach is idyllic with white, fine sand and cool water. However, it is not suitable to swim at the sea due to the presence of jellyfishes.

How to Get There

By Plane

There are flights to Penang provided by Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Air Asia. From the Bayan Lepas airport, guests may hail a taxi to reach Teluk Bahang.

By Car

People driving from Kuala Lumpur may drive through the North South Expressway (PLUS) and head towards the Penang Bridge that connects the mainland to the Penang Island. Since 2014, the Penang Second Bridge has been opened too. Upon exiting either the Penang Bridge or the Penang Second Bridge, leading signboards shall assist in getting to Teluk Bahang.

By Bus

The express bus terminal is located at Sungai Nibong. Among the available express bus services are Transnasional, Fivestars, PLUSLiner, Nice Express, Mutiara Express and many more. From the bus terminal, guests may hail a taxi to reach Teluk Bahang.

By Train

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) serves a daily route to Butterworth from Kuala Lumpur. From the Butterworth train station, guests may hail a taxi to reach Teluk Bahang.

Tropical Spice Garden

The Tropical Spice Garden showcases a landscaped garden that consists of over 100 varieties of tropical spice and herb plants and a huge collection of other exotic floras from all over the world. Joining the cooking class is the terrific way to get to know Penang Island whereby the classes begin with a tour of a wet market in Georgetown.

Entopia Penang

Visitors will be surrounded by a flying population of 7000 fluttering butterflies within this first tropical butterfly farm ever set up in the tropical world, giving the feel of being in an enchanted forest. Its modern enclosure also houses an assortment of other invertebrates, reptiles and amphibians.

Tropical Fruit Farm

Visitors can view the many kinds of fruit trees and sample fresh fruits in this 25-acre farm lies in the scenic hills near Balik Pulau. The quality of plantation and the dedication of the workers here contribute to the fruitful results. A small stall near the entrance sells fresh fruit juice and fruit dishes.

Penang National Park

Penang National Park is the world’s smallest national park. It contains about 550 species of floras and faunas ranging from snakes, macaques and leaf monkeys to otters, hawksbill, turtles and dolphins. Those who crave isolated beaches shall go to Teluk Duyung, Monkey Beach, Pantai Kerachut or Pantai Mas, all only accessible via trails around this park.v

Teluk Bahang Dam

The Teluk Bahang Dam is the biggest dam on Penang Island that offers splendid views all the way to the sea. This dam also being the only dam in Malaysia built within a few kilometres from the sea.

Penang Durian Farm

Located about 10 minutes from the Teluk Bahang Dam, the farm offers a durian buffet and a variety of tropical fruits during the local fruit and durian season in between May until August.

Teluk Bahang Recreational Park

Teluk Bahang Recreational Park is a popular recreational park equipped with park benches, picnic and camping areas, waterfalls and a playground. It provides an introduction to the Malaysian rainforest with a good network of hiking trails and a forestry museum.
