During the time, Chuah Thean Teng, an artist living in Penang, started to combine his artistic skills with old traditional batik technique that uses dye-resist process in making decorative motifs and designs on fabric. Soon after, other Malaysian artists followed in his footsteps thus creating new techniques and diversified styles. In this museum, there are 70 examples of the craft's evolution including Chuah's early and current pieces. A small number of artists in other countries also take up Batik Paintings. This Museum includes a small section devoted to works by artists in China, Indonesia and Thailand.
