The location is very strategic, very close to the culinary center and Chowrasta market, the room is very clean, the room is not too spacious, but clean, complete with an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, safe, even the standard room here is also given a bathrobe 😍 I will stay here again if I go to George Town.

We flew in very late and stayed in airport as long as we could before heading here. Staff held our bags while we walked a bit but managed to let us in early! Room is small but well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast and coffee on the roof was lovely. Laundry services are available and the entire staff was awesome. May have been the highlight of our time spent on the island. It is close to shopping mall, lots of food and a night market. Also very close to lots of walkable street art

Overview of Le Dream Boutique Hotel

Nestled within the storied streets of Georgetown's UNESCO World Heritage Site,

Le Dream Boutique Hotel

occupies a beautifully restored heritage building at 139, Jalan Pintal Tali. This intimate

4-star boutique property

offers just 45 thoughtfully designed rooms, ensuring a level of personal attention and exclusivity that larger hotels simply cannot match. For travellers seeking an authentic Penang experience wrapped in modern comfort, Le Dream Boutique Hotel strikes a rare balance between old-world charm and contemporary sophistication.

The hotel's location on Jalan Pintal Tali — a street whose name translates to "Rope Walk" in reference to its colonial-era rope-making trade — places guests at the very heart of Georgetown's cultural tapestry. From the moment you step through the entrance, the property's character reveals itself through considered design touches that pay homage to Penang's rich Straits heritage whilst delivering the amenities today's discerning travellers expect. A rooftop bar and spa tub offer panoramic views across Georgetown's distinctive low-rise skyline, providing a tranquil retreat above the vibrant streets below.

Whether you are visiting Penang for its legendary food scene, exploring centuries of multicultural history, or simply unwinding in a setting that feels worlds away from the ordinary, Le Dream Boutique Hotel serves as an ideal base. With

24-hour front desk service

, an on-site restaurant, and attentive housekeeping, the hotel ensures every aspect of your stay is taken care of — leaving you free to immerse yourself fully in the Georgetown experience.

Room Types at Le Dream Boutique Hotel

Le Dream Boutique Hotel offers four distinct room categories, each designed to cater to different travel needs — from solo explorers and couples to families and small groups. All rooms come equipped with

individually controlled air conditioning

, complimentary WiFi, and access to the hotel's room service, ensuring a comfortable stay regardless of which category you choose.

Standard Twin

The

Standard Twin

room is an excellent choice for friends travelling together or guests who prefer separate sleeping arrangements. Furnished with two single beds, this room type makes efficient use of space without compromising on comfort. Expect clean, contemporary interiors with quality linens, a private en-suite bathroom with hot shower facilities, and all essential amenities including air conditioning, complimentary WiFi, and a flat-screen television. The Standard Twin is well suited for travellers who plan to spend most of their time exploring Georgetown and require a well-appointed, restful space to return to at the end of the day. Maximum occupancy is two guests.

Superior King

Stepping up in both size and refinement, the

Superior King

room features a generous king-sized bed dressed in premium linens, creating an inviting sanctuary for couples and solo travellers who appreciate extra space. The room's design reflects the boutique character of the hotel, with tasteful furnishings and decorative elements that echo Georgetown's heritage aesthetic. Amenities include air conditioning, complimentary high-speed WiFi, a flat-screen television, tea and coffee making facilities, and a well-appointed private bathroom. The Superior King offers a noticeable upgrade in living space over the Standard Twin, making it a popular choice among guests celebrating special occasions or those who simply value a more spacious retreat. This room accommodates up to two guests comfortably.

Deluxe King

The

Deluxe King

represents Le Dream Boutique Hotel's premium offering for couples and discerning solo travellers. Built around a plush king-sized bed, this room category provides the most generous floor space among the hotel's double-occupancy options. Guests can expect elevated design details, enhanced bathroom amenities, and additional in-room comforts that distinguish the Deluxe experience. The room features air conditioning, complimentary WiFi, a flat-screen television, a minibar or refreshment area, and a private bathroom finished with quality fixtures. Many Deluxe King rooms also benefit from superior natural lighting and views that connect guests visually to Georgetown's charming streetscape. This category is ideally suited for honeymoon travellers, anniversary celebrations, or anyone seeking the finest room experience Le Dream has to offer for two guests.

Deluxe Quad

Designed with families and small groups in mind, the

Deluxe Quad

is the most spacious accommodation at Le Dream Boutique Hotel, configured to sleep up to four guests. This room type features a versatile bedding arrangement — typically combining a king-sized bed with additional single beds or a pair of double beds — ensuring every member of your travel party has their own comfortable sleeping space. The Deluxe Quad retains all the refined design touches of the hotel's Deluxe category, including premium furnishings, enhanced bathroom facilities, air conditioning, complimentary WiFi, and a flat-screen television. For families visiting Penang with children, or friends travelling as a group of three to four, this room eliminates the need to book multiple rooms, offering both convenience and excellent value. The additional floor area also provides welcome breathing room for longer stays.

Facilities and Amenities

Despite its boutique scale, Le Dream Boutique Hotel delivers a surprisingly comprehensive range of facilities that rival many larger properties in Georgetown. The hotel's crowning feature is undoubtedly its

rooftop bar and spa tub

, an atmospheric space where guests can unwind with a cocktail while soaking in views of Georgetown's terracotta rooftops, historic temples, and distant Penang Hill. The rooftop spa tub provides a uniquely relaxing way to end a day of sightseeing — few hotels in the heritage zone offer anything comparable at this price point.

The ground-floor

bar

provides a more intimate setting for evening drinks, serving a curated selection of cocktails, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages. It doubles as a social hub where guests can mingle and exchange travel tips, contributing to the convivial atmosphere that boutique hotels are celebrated for.

Complimentary WiFi

is available throughout the hotel, from guest rooms to communal areas, ensuring you stay connected whether you are planning the next day's itinerary, sharing photographs on social media, or attending to work commitments. The connection is reliable and suitable for video calls and streaming.

Practical guest services include

laundry and dry cleaning

, which are particularly valuable for travellers on extended stays or those who prefer to pack light.

Room service

is available for guests who wish to dine in the privacy and comfort of their own room, while the

24-hour front desk

ensures assistance is always on hand — whether you need a late-night taxi arrangement, early morning wake-up call, or local recommendations. The front desk team are well versed in Georgetown's offerings and can help arrange tours, transport, and restaurant reservations on your behalf.

Location and Getting There

Le Dream Boutique Hotel enjoys one of the most enviable addresses in all of Penang. Situated on

Jalan Pintal Tali in the core zone of Georgetown's UNESCO World Heritage Site

, the hotel places guests within walking distance of the city's most celebrated attractions, eateries, and cultural landmarks. The famous

Armenian Street

(Lebuh Armenian), home to Penang's iconic street art installations including Ernest Zacharevic's renowned murals, is just a short stroll away. Likewise,

Khoo Kongsi

, one of the grandest Chinese clan houses in Southeast Asia, and the atmospheric

Chew Jetty

clan pier settlement are all easily accessible on foot.

From

Penang International Airport

, the hotel is approximately 18 kilometres away, with the journey taking around 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic conditions. Guests can arrange airport transfers through the hotel's front desk or hail a ride-hailing service such as Grab, with fares from the airport to Georgetown starting from approximately RM 30 to RM 50. Metered taxis are also available at the airport terminal, though ride-hailing apps typically offer more transparent pricing.

For those arriving via ferry from

Butterworth

on the mainland, the

Penang Ferry Terminal

at Weld Quay is located roughly 1.5 kilometres from the hotel — an easy 20-minute walk or a short ride costing from approximately RM 5 to RM 8 by Grab. The

Penang Sentral

transport hub in Butterworth connects to KTM Komuter rail services and long-distance buses, making it convenient for travellers arriving from Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, or Hat Yai in southern Thailand.

Once in Georgetown, much of the heritage zone is best explored on foot, by trishaw, or by bicycle. The hotel's central location means that key attractions including

Fort Cornwallis

,

Penang Peranakan Mansion

,

Little India

, and the vibrant

Campbell Street Market

are all within a 10 to 15-minute walk. Rapid Penang buses also operate frequent routes through the city, with fares starting from approximately RM 1.40 per journey, offering an affordable way to reach attractions further afield such as

Penang Hill

,

Kek Lok Si Temple

, and the beaches of

Batu Ferringhi

.

Dining at Le Dream Boutique Hotel

Le Dream Boutique Hotel features an

on-site restaurant

that serves guests throughout the day, providing a convenient dining option without the need to venture out. The restaurant's menu typically draws on Penang's rich culinary traditions, offering a selection of local and international dishes prepared with fresh ingredients. Breakfast is served daily, giving guests an energising start before a day of exploration. For those who prefer a more relaxed morning,

room service

is also available, allowing you to enjoy your first meal of the day in the comfort of your own room.

The hotel's

rooftop bar

complements the dining experience with a carefully curated drinks menu, perfect for sundowner cocktails or a nightcap under the stars. It is an atmospheric spot that has earned a reputation among both hotel guests and visiting travellers for its ambience and Georgetown rooftop views.

That said, one of the greatest pleasures of staying at Le Dream Boutique Hotel is its proximity to Georgetown's extraordinary

street food scene

. Within minutes on foot, guests can reach legendary hawker centres and kopitiams serving Penang's most celebrated dishes.

Kimberley Street

and

Chulia Street

, both a short walk from the hotel, are renowned for their duck kway chap, char kway teow, and Hokkien mee. The famous

New Lane Hawker Centre

(Lorong Baru) comes alive each evening with dozens of stalls offering everything from oyster omelettes to ais kacang. For a more refined dining experience, Georgetown's heritage zone is dotted with acclaimed restaurants and cafés housed in beautifully restored shophouses — many of which are within a 10-minute walk of the hotel.

Why Stay at Le Dream Boutique Hotel

Unbeatable heritage zone location.

Few hotels in Penang can match Le Dream Boutique Hotel's positioning within the heart of Georgetown's UNESCO World Heritage Site. Staying here means the city's finest street art, temples, museums, and hawker food are literally on your doorstep — no taxi required. You can step out of the hotel and immediately immerse yourself in one of Southeast Asia's most culturally rich neighbourhoods.

Intimate boutique atmosphere.

With only 45 rooms, Le Dream Boutique Hotel offers a sense of exclusivity and personal service that mass-market hotels cannot replicate. The staff-to-guest ratio allows for more attentive, personalised service, and the hotel's compact size creates a warm, welcoming environment where guests quickly feel at home. This makes it an especially appealing choice for couples, honeymooners, and travellers who value character over cookie-cutter uniformity.

Rooftop experience.

The combination of a rooftop bar and spa tub is a rare find among Georgetown's boutique hotels. After a full day of walking Georgetown's streets, few things rival the pleasure of settling into a warm spa tub with a cold drink in hand, watching the sun set over the heritage rooftops. It is a genuinely memorable feature that elevates the entire stay.

Heritage charm meets modern comfort.

Le Dream Boutique Hotel occupies a restored heritage building that retains architectural character whilst delivering thoroughly modern comforts — reliable air conditioning, fast WiFi, quality bedding, and attentive room service. This combination appeals to travellers who want to feel connected to Penang's history without sacrificing the conveniences they rely on.

Excellent range of room configurations.

From the Standard Twin for budget-conscious travellers to the Deluxe Quad for families, the hotel's four room types cover a wide spectrum of needs. This versatility makes it suitable for diverse travel styles and group compositions, ensuring every guest finds an option that fits.

Tips for Booking Le Dream Boutique Hotel

Book early for peak season stays.

Georgetown experiences its highest visitor numbers during major festivals and school holidays — particularly around

Chinese New Year

(January or February),

George Town Festival

(July to August), and the year-end holiday period from December through early January. With only 45 rooms, Le Dream Boutique Hotel fills up quickly during these periods. Booking at least four to six weeks in advance is strongly recommended if your travel dates coincide with peak season. Conversely, visiting during the quieter months of March to June or September to November often yields better availability and more competitive rates.

Request a higher floor for better views.

When making your reservation through Traveloka, consider adding a special request for an upper-floor room. Higher floors at Le Dream Boutique Hotel tend to offer more natural light and improved views across Georgetown's charming rooftops and heritage streetscape. While such requests are subject to availability, the hotel's front desk team are generally accommodating when possible.

Take advantage of the Deluxe Quad for group value.

If you are travelling with family or as a group of three to four, the Deluxe Quad room offers outstanding value compared to booking two separate rooms. You benefit from shared space, a single booking to manage, and the convenience of keeping your travel party together — all without compromising on comfort or room quality.

Arrive prepared for check-in and check-out times.

Check-in at Le Dream Boutique Hotel begins at

15:00

, with check-out by

12:00

. If you arrive early, the 24-hour front desk can store your luggage securely while you begin exploring Georgetown. The hotel's central location means you can easily fill those pre-check-in hours with a heritage walking trail, a visit to a nearby kopitiam for breakfast, or a leisurely stroll along the Esplanade waterfront.

Use Traveloka for the best deal.

Comparing rates and room availability on Traveloka allows you to view all available room types at a glance, read verified guest reviews, and take advantage of platform-exclusive promotions and discount codes. Flexible cancellation options are often available on selected rates, giving you peace of mind if your travel plans change. Downloading the Traveloka app also provides access to mobile-only deals and last-minute offers that may not appear on the desktop site.

The water pump broke down on our second night. Wife was caught in the shower with soap and there waa no water for about 1.5 hours, even after saying that the pump was restarted and water would be up in 30 mins. The only thing that marred a perfect stay.

Very clean and well appointed. Staff friendly and helpful. Our room was oddly shaped, probably because it's an old building and there was a load bearing pole that couldnt be moved in renovations. Otherwise it had everything we needed. Modern bathroom, bar fridge, safe. The 'skybar' is a bit overstated. The rooftop jacuzzis looked inviting but we didnt use during our short stay

Fast and friendly check-in set the tone right away. Within minutes we were upstairs in a tidy, modern room that felt well maintained and thoughtfully laid out. The lobby is nicely decorated with a distressed mid-century feel. Think aviation metal and worn leather, the sort of aesthetic that makes you half expect a Pan Am pilot from the 1960s to wander through looking for a drink. The room itself is comfortable and practical. The bed is on the firm side but paired with very soft pillows, which makes for a surprisingly good night’s sleep. The bathroom is modern and beautifully tiled with excellent hot water temperature, always a welcome luxury after wandering around humid Penang. Small touches help. The coffee bar includes a fridge and two complimentary bottles of water each day, something you’ll appreciate after exploring the streets of George Town. Location is another big win. The hotel sits within easy walking distance of several food markets, a mall, and plenty of local points of interest, making it a convenient base for eating and exploring your way around the city.

Good room, a couple more hangers would have been nice. Great bathroom, although hot water seemed to be in short supply. Comfy bed, aircon loud -aseverywhere. The rooftop bar wws sadly empty every night - it wasn’t all that inviting, no view, only popcorn as snacks. But over all I enjoyed my stay, great location.
