Sofitel Istanbul Taksim

I specifically booked this hotel because it had an indoor swimming pool for the kids. Unfortunately, the indoor pool was closed throughout our entire stay, and there was no notice on the website informing guests of this before booking. This was very disappointing, as it was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. The outdoor pool was not very clean, so we didn’t feel comfortable using it instead. The hallways near our rooms had a strong smell of sewage/toilet for our entire stay. We complained several times, but nothing was done about it. It wasn’t until our last day that the area was cleaned, which wasn’t very helpful as we were leaving the following day. The breakfast was exactly the same every day, with no variety at all. After a couple of days, it became quite repetitive and boring. Overall, we were disappointed with our stay due to the lack of communication about the pool closure, the cleanliness issues, and the poor response to our complaints.

The hotel is beautiful. The room was very clean and the amenities were nice. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating for all our questions and requests.

Location was the best asset for this property

Room was very clean, staff not very helpful as couldn't understand much English. The indoor swimming pool was out of service till 3rd July and we were not notified as I do not like swimming in the roof top swimming pool as other people can see from other hotels, they did not have an alternative suggestion. When checking out we had to put our own suitcases into the taxi. The room had espresso coffee system which was not very tasty. I like my coffee hot and it was just luke warm, when asked if they do coffee sachets they said no. Overall okay experience located in a good area with food and coffee shops near by.

Overall a pleasant stay, staff were welcoming & helpful. I enjoyed my massage at the spa & the stay was comfortable. It is a nice hotel the only drawback is sometimes the cleanliness is not up to parr with that of a 5 star hotel. Although room cleaning takes place everyday this usually consists of a change of towels, emptying the bins, making the bed and surface level tidying if that and this differs day to day. You can see where corners have been cut in the bathroom as fixtures are not attached in a proper manner and are often lopsided. Again the lack of thorough cleaning is what lets it down with stuff left from the previous occupants of the room (snacks & used gowns). Otherwise beds are comfortable and house keeping themselves are kind and helpful. Beyond this I recommend the hotel for its excellent location its central to most places with easy access to public transport & taxis alongside plenty of shopping and restaurants at your doorstep.

Stayed for 10 days at this property and overall highly recommended as it’s close to many popular sites, dining and shopping. Hotel staff is very hospitable and ensured a very comfortable visit throughout. Thank you

Love the Sofitel brand and have stayed at many of their properties around the world. On the surface, the hotel is great. Spacious rooms, excellent washroom and shower, clean and modern design. The staff are friendly and attentative. All things I come to expect from the Sofitel brand. Not to mention the location: A+. But when you stay a few nights, this was the experience: Poor temperature control: Control pad in room does nothing with the fan speed or temperature changes. This was the biggest fault for me. Had to call front desk to have maintenance adjust temperature on their end. Some nights after a call to front desk, the AC didn’t even come on at all. Other nights you ask for it to be set to 21 celsius, the temp. drops to 20 then 19 then 18. For a luxury property, temperature control in the room should be non negotiable. It was the biggest strike during my stay. TV malfunction: TV kept turning off by itself after a few minutes. Asked front desk to have it looked at. An employee came up, reset the TV and simply said to call him again if it doesn’t change. The problem remained By Day 3, we had enough and stopped calling. Room safe: the back panel keeping the batteries in place was broken and wouldn’t lock in place. Again, mentioned to front desk on the first day but nothing was done. Couldn’t keep our valuables (cash, jewellery, passports) safely away. All in all, the staff seem to try but issues were never resolved. Overall dissappointing.

The floors were quite dirty in the hall ways and the pool needs maintenance.

The exterior and entrance are beautiful, but that is where the 5-star experience ends. The rooms are nice, yet the windows were extremely dirty and the view was terrible. Breakfast was a major disappointment, more like a 3-star level: industrial quality pastries, undercooked muffins, and poor savory options. Surprisingly, the Ibis near the Istanbul Fair offers better quality and choice for a fifth of the price. The SPA lacks a whirlpool, and the sauna and hammam are mediocre for this category. Furthermore, the noise from the rooftop restaurant was deafening until 1:00 AM, even on the 7th floor. I do not recommend this hotel as there are much better 4 and 5-star options nearby for a lower or similar price. Don't be fooled by the magnificent facade.

Great location in Taksim. Rooms are very comfy and ver clean. Breakfast buffet is very good.
