I had much higher expectations for this hotel. The pictures make it seem much more elegant and private than it really is. On the plus side, it was very clean and the rooms were very large. On the negative side, our room stated we were to have a garden view—we overlooked the parking lot and the many condos surrounding the property. When we inquired about this we were told no rooms are garden view even though our reservation lists garden view as one of the room highlights. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for an event which was another disappointment as we were looking forward to eating there. The staff was not welcoming. Perhaps they were occupied with the event that was starting soon. The decor and furniture could use some updating. It was a disappointing stay and we will not be returning.

Restaurant not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. Same for the whiskey bar.

This hotel lives up to its name Grand. We really enjoyed our room, the staff, location, comfort.

Only two bath towels in room. Front desk clerk displayed aggressive attitude to issues encountered. Ice kept behind bar and not accessible. Continental breakfast $25 for 2.

The staff was nice and the restaurant was very nice too and waiter was very kind ! The hotel looked very stunning inside and the gardens outside were beautiful too. Every piece of equipment in the gym was broken. The jacuzzi tubs in both rooms were broken ( shower and bath worked fine but no jacuzzi working in either room) These perks are important part of travelling.

The exercise room machines were not operable ie., could not program 3 of them.

just a great hotel and the location !!!!

Great location close to main fairways and shopping in a lovely area with great views of the mountainous landscape. The beds and pillows are so comfy and the balconies are a real treat to enjoy a morning coffee. The foyer is inviting and decorated with a delicate charm. I always stay here when visiting.

Super nice hotel and extremely good customer service from all staff. The continental breakfast was only “okay” and the gym was also just “okay” but everything else was great. We will definitely book there next time.

Great staff, clean room and the a/c worked. Everything was great, we will definitely recommend the Grand Hotel to our friends.

Our garden view room had a view of an ugly roof below and was located next to the air conditioner unit for the Hotel.

Quiet, clean…great location

This hotel has a feel of elegance and how things used to be when travelling, it has a personality and isn’t just hard, angled bright surfaces. Enjoyed the restaurant service and food.

Great property in the north end of Nanaimo. Very clean spacious rooms, and safe underground parking. Very friendly helpful staff. Nice restaurant on site, but I didn’t get to use it as the power was out in the area. Great value for what you get with excellent location. Booked 2 nights and booked another before leaving. Highly recommended!

My favorite part was all the accents and decorations in the lobby. Room was excellent.

Room was spacious and everything was clean. Beds super comfy. They converted an old boardroom into a 2 Queen suite, so there’s no carpet and it echoes a bit. But otherwise a terrific stay.
