From the moment I checked in, the receptionist warned me that I was taking a capsule room with bunk beds, so I wasn't expecting much. The bathrooms are shared on each floor, with only two. I happened to get the third floor. The atmosphere was quite beautiful and had a vibe like an Islamic boarding school or boarding house, haha. The room was small, but that's to be expected. For the price, it was pretty good. However, in the third floor bathroom, one of the bidets didn't work, and the other didn't have a door handle. The food variety was quite good, with lots of traditional snacks, but the taste was a bit bland.

The room was clean, tidy, and had a distinct Javanese feel. Basic amenities like a desk, mirror, and reading lamp were all included. The large windows with thick curtains kept outside light from disturbing your sleep. For the price, the room is well worth it for a short staycation seeking a tranquil and traditional atmosphere. The staff was also friendly upon check-in.

Just checked out of Java Boutique Hotel and the most memorable experience was the breakfast. They truly embodied the "Javanese" concept with a traditional menu that's rare in budget hotels. There was kolak (coconut milk), mung bean porridge, and jenang sumsum (rice porridge) served on a banana leaf. The flavors were just right, not too sweet. It's rare for a hotel to serve jenang sumsum for breakfast. The presentation was neat and warm. Served on a stainless steel chafing dish, the food stayed warm. A great choice for those who don't like bread. For those tired of bread and cereal for breakfast, this porridge is a filling alternative.

If you're going to Bromo, breakfast won't burn because it can be used as a lunch box, but if you're checking out early, you can only take bread because breakfast isn't cooked yet. Overall, the room was clean. The king-sized bed was comfortable. I'll stay again sometime.

As for service, the staff was very friendly and helpful when I needed assistance. However, the cleanliness of the bed (sheets, blankets), room, and especially the bathroom needs to be improved to ensure it's clean and odor-free. The hot water worked well. The food was also delicious, and it didn't disappoint.

My first experience staying in a capsule room at Java Boutique Hotel, and it was surprisingly comfortable! Although we shared a room, the area was clean and quiet. The capsules were spacious, not cramped, and fully equipped. The location is also strategic, perfect for backpackers or those just looking for a place to stay for a while. For the price, plus one free breakfast, it's definitely worth it.
