Cairns Plaza Hotel

The hotel building is small but our room is quite spacious. Room is also kept very clean. We can see partial ocean view but that's fine. The hotel is not at the center of everything but close enough. I'd say it's a very nice 3-star hotel. However one thing I don't quite understand is its price. It's lower than the neighbouring 5-star hotels' but by just a little bit. How bad do those hotels need to be, to be priced similarly? I think this hotel definitely benefits a lot from the unusually high review scores. At least they won the business from me. But when I looked at the nearby shinny brand new Crystalbrook hotels and Double Tree, I did regret. One thing good about the Plaza hotel is that it has self-service laundry. However it was less useful than I expected. There are only two washers and two dryers. When there's someone ahead of you, you need to allocateore time for completing the task. It's OK, but the hotel also has the policy of closing the laundry at 10pm. On the last day of our stay this policy brought us headache. We accumulated quite some clothes to wash and dry, say two loads. We started task right after dinner. However due to one set of machines is used by others, our second load didn't get the chance. The staff refused to extend the hours citing security reasons. I understand and respect that, but just wanted everyone who wants to use their laundry to ne aware, that it might not be as convenient as you would think.

Friendly staff, good location, reasonable amenities. Not fancy but good value. Only thing I can complain about is the bed is too soft for me.

Great rooms clean and comfy would stay here again if we were to revisit this area. It’s walking distance to the town, great location.

Great location next to seafront and Muddies for sunrise breakfast

The shower was terrible, no water pressure. The rooms are not sound proofed. We could hear the bathroom of the room above us being used. The staff were very friendly, and it was nice to have the room serviced daily. We had no trouble with car parking even though there were not many spaces. Location was great, close enough to walk everywhere.

Great stay fairly close to the action free parking is great lo ely views from ocean side room. Lovely helpful staff a 24/7 desk is a bonus

Our room is very clean and very comfortable, serviced everyday. We get fresh towels everyday, beds are done everyday, we were very thankful. Very close to everything. Public transpo is very easy $1 return trip everywhere we go, no need for car. Lots of restaurants near the hotel. Walk along the esplanade is the best thing everyday, hotel is overlooking the esplanade, only few steps away. Our stay was very convenient. Price is very good for the location. Peter(owner) and all the staff were very nice and very helpful. Place is well maintained. Close to all the attractions. Definitely will book again. Very convenient to everything we needed. This property is in an ideal location. It is close to all the Cairns restaurants but just far enough away to be much quieter than most. It is on the Esplanade and opposite the amazing Muddy's playground area which provides hours of free entertainment for young children. The staff were all helpful and friendly, with special mention going to liv, for her friendly and helpful service.We had a room on the top floor facing the Cairns waterfront and we enjoyed watching all the boats/ships coming and going. I probably shouldn't be sharing this hidden gem as we will definitely want to be returning in the future!

New pool area was great and staff were lovely. It feels like they are doing their best with an old building. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Walkable distance from the shops and Muddy’s playground and cafe is right outside if you can’t be bothered walking. Top tip: great food in muddy’s but be prepared for the wait as it gets very busy.
