Staying at Taronga Zoo was a whole experience. The ferry from Circular Quay, being met at the entry to the lobby with spectacular views to the CBD including Opera House and Harbour Bridge, to the beautifully appointed comfortable rooms with a koala cocooned in the tree outside the window, to the drinks on the deck, the personalised small group zoo entry tour, the best risotto I have ever eaten at the spectacular restaurant, a delicious buffet breakfast with a novel churro treat and 24 hour access to the zoo. I am an Aussie from WA and would recommend this for both locals and international tourist. It was fabulous!!

At 2:20pm on 8/4/26, I parked my car briefly at the roundabout as there were no other available parking spaces. I went inside to collect my luggage. About a minute later, while I was loading my bags into the car and was about 20 seconds away from leaving, a gentleman(Staff?) in a white van began honking at me. He said my car was blocking his entry to the retreat and demanded that I move immediately. His reaction was quite shocking and frustrating.

I really feel like I'm outside Sydney it feels like a sanctuary retreat with such close distance from city centre. The staff are so friendly and kind to us. Accomodating to my husband's need whose mobility is such a challenge. Fresh air, zoo tours are such wonderful experience! We could also admire the Koala just right outside the windows from our hotel room.

Great location and lovely to be near the animals. The zoo is looking really good and was interesting to walk around and hear about conservation of endangered animals. The main reception area was really lovely with a great view of the harbour. Free parking and access to the zoo was great. Some of the facilities (sofas/dining chairs) were a bit tired/worn and needed rejuvenating. Breakfast staff could have been more responsive, but all in all a great experience.
