Hotel is good. Room is big. I got a free upgraded room and a free birthday cake and decoration for my mom's birthday. Breakfast has a lot of variations. The Chinese restaurants at the 37th and 1st floor are delicious. Didn't have time to try the spa, sauna, and swimming pool, but you need to remember which elevator you need to use when going to the lobby, ground floor, and room. Definitely will stay here again.

More about hotels in Futian

Futian: A Dynamic Hub for the Discerning International Traveller

Futian, a district within the sprawling metropolis of Shenzhen, China, presents a compelling proposition for international travellers seeking a blend of modernity, business acumen, and burgeoning cultural experiences. While China itself is a vast canvas of history and innovation, Futian stands out as a concentrated nexus of contemporary development. It’s a place where gleaming skyscrapers pierce the sky, housing global corporations and cutting-edge technology firms, yet it also offers glimpses into a rapidly evolving urban landscape that is both efficient and surprisingly accessible. For those arriving from the Philippines, the journey to Futian is a gateway to understanding China's economic dynamism, offering a stark yet fascinating contrast to familiar Southeast Asian cityscapes.

The district's internal geography is as varied as its economic output. Futian itself is the central business district, a place of high-octane commerce and sophisticated infrastructure. Adjacent areas like Luohu offer a more established, bustling commercial feel, while Nanshan is known for its tech innovation and scenic coastal areas. Longgang, further afield, provides a different pace, often with more industrial or residential zones. Understanding these distinctions is crucial for any visitor. Choosing to stay in Futian means being at the heart of it all, while opting for Luohu might offer a more traditional shopping experience, and Nanshan could appeal to those seeking a blend of business and leisure with a touch of nature.

From a value perspective, Futian, like much of Shenzhen, offers a competitive landscape for international visitors. With a starting price point of around ₱ 2,926.89 per night based on 243 reviews, it positions itself as an accessible destination for travellers from the US, Europe, and India. This price point, when converted to USD, often translates to a more affordable stay compared to major Western or even some other Asian capitals, allowing for a richer experience without necessarily breaking the bank. This makes Futian an attractive option for those looking to explore China's economic powerhouse without the premium costs associated with more established global financial centres.

The accommodation scene in Futian reflects this dynamic environment, offering a spectrum of choices to suit various needs and budgets. For instance, the Vienna Hotel Shenzhen Huaqiangbei, a 3-star property, provides a solid base for exploring the area, while the Vienna Hotel Futian Fuhua Road, also a 3-star establishment, boasts an impressive 9.2 rating from nearly 500 reviews, indicating a high level of guest satisfaction. These hotels, among others, serve as excellent starting points for travellers looking to book hotel accommodations that balance comfort, convenience, and value, allowing them to fully engage with what Futian has to offer.

Futian is a destination that caters to a diverse range of international travellers. For American and European visitors, it offers a glimpse into China's rapid modernization and a chance to explore a city at the forefront of technological advancement. Indian travellers will find a familiar energy in its bustling markets and a wide array of culinary options, often at competitive prices. While direct connections might be less common, the logistical ease of reaching Futian from major hubs makes it a viable option for those looking to explore East Asia. For travellers from Africa, Futian represents a significant economic hub, offering insights into global trade and development.

Best Areas to Stay in Futian

Futian, while a district within Shenzhen, is a destination in itself, boasting several distinct neighbourhoods, each offering a unique flavour and set of advantages for international visitors. The choice of where to base yourself can significantly shape your experience, influencing everything from your daily commute to the local atmosphere you encounter. Understanding these areas is key to unlocking the best of Futian, whether you're here for business, leisure, or a bit of both, ensuring your stay is both comfortable and convenient.

Futian Central Business District (CBD)

This is the pulsating heart of Futian, a district synonymous with modern China. Towering skyscrapers, sleek corporate headquarters, and high-end shopping malls define its skyline. For business travellers from the US and Europe, the CBD offers unparalleled access to major companies and financial institutions, making it an efficient base. The vibe is one of constant motion, efficiency, and a distinctly global outlook. While it might lack the traditional charm of older cities, its modern amenities and well-organized infrastructure are a significant draw, with accommodation prices reflecting its prime status, though still offering value compared to global financial hubs.

Within the Futian CBD, you'll find yourself surrounded by impressive architecture and a plethora of dining options, from international cuisine to local eateries. It's a hub for art and culture too, with several galleries and performance venues. Getting to this area from the nearest international airport is straightforward, typically involving a metro ride or a taxi, making it easily accessible for those arriving from afar. For those looking to explore beyond the immediate vicinity, the extensive metro network provides excellent connectivity to other parts of Shenzhen, allowing you to easily book attractions across the city.

Huaqiangbei

Renowned globally as an electronics mecca, Huaqiangbei is a district that buzzes with an energy unlike any other. For travellers from India and other parts of Asia, this area offers an exciting immersion into the world of technology, with vast markets selling everything from the latest gadgets to obscure components. The atmosphere is electric, a sensory overload of sights and sounds, with a distinctly local feel. While it might seem overwhelming at first, it’s an essential experience for anyone interested in consumer electronics, offering incredible value and a unique shopping adventure, with many budget-friendly accommodation options available. Use Traveloka to book attractions — book attractions.

Beyond the electronics, Huaqiangbei also offers a vibrant street food scene and numerous local restaurants where you can sample authentic Shenzhen flavours at very reasonable prices, often starting around ₱ 2,926.89/night for a comfortable stay. Navigating the area is an adventure in itself, with a well-connected metro station making it easy to reach other parts of Futian and Shenzhen. It’s a place where you can truly feel the pulse of Shenzhen’s commercial dynamism, a worth visiting for bargain hunters and tech enthusiasts alike.

Gangxia

Gangxia is a dynamic neighbourhood that perfectly embodies the blend of commercial activity and residential life found in Futian. It's a well-connected area, particularly known for its proximity to the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, making it a prime location for business travellers and event attendees. For visitors from the US and Europe, Gangxia offers a more grounded experience than the pure CBD, with a good mix of modern apartments and local amenities. The area is characterized by its efficient transport links, including the metro, which makes exploring the rest of Shenzhen a breeze.

This district offers a range of dining options, from quick bites to more formal settings, catering to both business professionals and local residents. Its convenient location means you're never far from key attractions or business hubs. For those seeking accommodation, Gangxia provides a variety of choices, including apartments that offer more space and flexibility for longer stays. The area’s accessibility and convenience make it a popular choice for international visitors who want to be close to major event venues while still having a taste of local urban life.

Luohu District (Adjacent to Futian)

While technically a separate district, Luohu is often considered in conjunction with Futian due to its proximity and historical significance as Shenzhen's original commercial centre. It offers a more traditional shopping experience, with bustling markets and a lively atmosphere that appeals to travellers from India and other regions seeking authentic local commerce. The vibe here is energetic and somewhat more chaotic than Futian's CBD, but it’s this very character that draws many visitors. It’s a place where you can find a wide array of goods and experience the vibrant street life of Shenzhen.

Luohu is a rich collection for shoppers and food enthusiasts, with numerous restaurants serving local Cantonese cuisine and a variety of street food stalls. Its well-established transport network, including metro lines, makes it easy to travel to and from Futian and other parts of the city. For travellers looking for a more immersive cultural and commercial experience, Luohu provides an excellent base, offering a different perspective on Shenzhen's development. The area also features a range of hotels, from budget-friendly options to more upscale establishments, catering to diverse traveller needs.

Hotels located near the airport or with excellent transport links to it are crucial for transit passengers or those with early/late flights. What to Eat and Where to Find It in Futian

Futian, as part of Shenzhen, offers a culinary landscape that is a vibrant fusion of traditional Cantonese flavours and modern international influences. For travellers from the Philippines, the experience of dining in Futian is an exploration of new tastes and textures, often at surprisingly affordable prices. The region is known for its fresh seafood, delicate dim sum, and hearty noodle dishes. Beyond the well-known Cantonese staples, Futian also embraces global cuisines, reflecting its status as a major international business hub, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate, from the adventurous eater to those seeking familiar comforts.

When seeking authentic local flavours, exploring the food streets and markets within Futian and its neighbouring districts like Luohu is a must. Areas around the Huaqiangbei electronics market, for instance, are teeming with small eateries and street food vendors offering delicious and inexpensive local snacks and meals. For Muslim travellers, finding Halal options requires a bit more diligence; while dedicated Halal restaurants exist, especially in areas with larger international communities, it's advisable to look for establishments clearly marked as Halal or to inquire about ingredients. Many restaurants are accustomed to dietary requests, especially in tourist-friendly zones.

The cost of dining in Futian presents excellent value for international visitors. Street food and casual eateries can offer a filling meal for as little as ₱ 150-₱ 300 (approximately $3-$6 USD). Mid-range restaurants, serving a variety of Chinese and international dishes, typically range from ₱ 500-₱ 1,000 (approximately $10-$20 USD) per person for a complete meal. High-end dining experiences in luxury hotels or upscale establishments can cost upwards of ₱ 2,000 (approximately $40 USD) and above, but even these prices are often competitive when compared to similar establishments in Western cities. This affordability allows travellers to indulge in a wide range of culinary experiences.

Navigating dining etiquette in Futian is straightforward for most international visitors. Tipping is not customary in China, and attempting to leave a tip may even cause confusion. It's polite to wait for your host to start eating or to be invited to begin. Chopsticks are the primary eating utensils, and learning basic usage will enhance your experience. Many restaurants offer menus with pictures or English translations, but having a translation app on your phone can be incredibly useful for ordering. Embracing the local dining culture, including sharing dishes, is part of the adventure.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Futian

Understanding local customs and prioritizing safety are paramount for any international traveller, and Futian is no exception. While Shenzhen is a modern and relatively open city, being aware of cultural nuances will greatly enhance your interactions and overall experience. Respecting local traditions and being mindful of your surroundings ensures a smoother and more enjoyable trip, whether you're navigating bustling markets or attending business meetings in the city's impressive skyscrapers.

When visiting Futian, particularly in areas outside the most tourist-centric zones, it's important to be aware of certain social norms. Public displays of affection are generally more reserved than in Western countries. While queuing is common, it might not always be as orderly as travellers from some regions are accustomed to. When invited to someone's home or a formal business setting, it's polite to bring a small gift. Photography in certain areas, especially military installations or sensitive government buildings, is strictly prohibited. Always ask for permission before taking photos of individuals.

For travellers staying in hotels or visiting popular attractions, general safety precautions apply. Keep your valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded places like markets or public transport. While petty theft is not rampant, it's always wise to be vigilant. For transportation, using reputable ride-hailing apps like Didi (China's equivalent of Uber) or official taxis is recommended. Ensure the taxi meter is used. The metro system is efficient, safe, and an excellent way to get around Futian and Shenzhen, offering a reliable and cost-effective travel option.

In case of emergencies, the general emergency number in China is 110 for police and 120 for medical assistance. For Filipino travellers, the Philippine Embassy in Beijing and its consulates in other major cities are crucial points of contact. It's advisable to have their contact details readily available. While there isn't a specific Philippine Consulate in Shenzhen, the embassy can provide assistance. Considering travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and trip disruptions is highly recommended for all international visitors, ensuring peace of mind during your stay in Futian.

Getting to Futian and Getting Around

Reaching Futian from the Philippines is a journey that connects two dynamic economic regions, offering a gateway to exploring China's modern marvels. Flights from Manila (NAIA/MNL) and Cebu (CEB) to Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) are readily available, often with one or two convenient layovers in major Asian hubs like Hong Kong, Guangzhou, or even direct flights depending on the airline and season. The total travel time typically ranges from 4 to 8 hours, making it an accessible destination for a week-long trip or a longer exploration. Booking your flight in advance through Traveloka can secure competitive fares, often starting from ₱ 15,000 to ₱ 25,000 round trip, depending on the time of booking and airline.

Once you land at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX), getting to Futian is a straightforward process. The airport is well-connected to the city centre via the Shenzhen Metro system, specifically Line 11, which offers a fast and efficient route directly to Futian's central business district. Alternatively, taxis and ride-hailing services are readily available, providing a more direct but potentially more expensive option. The journey to Futian typically takes around 30-45 minutes by metro or taxi, depending on traffic conditions. This ease of access makes Futian a convenient starting point for your Chinese adventure.

The best time to visit Futian generally aligns with Shenzhen's pleasant weather patterns. Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) offer the most comfortable temperatures, with mild days and cooler evenings, ideal for exploring the city's attractions. Summer (June to August) can be hot and humid with a higher chance of rainfall, while winter (December to February) is generally cool and dry. These shoulder seasons often coincide with periods outside major international school holidays, potentially offering better hotel rates and fewer crowds, making it easier to book attractions and enjoy a more relaxed experience.

Before you depart for Futian, a few practical preparations will ensure a smooth journey. The local currency is the Chinese Yuan (CNY), and while major hotels and some larger establishments may accept international credit cards, it's highly advisable to have some cash on hand for smaller vendors and local transport. Mobile payment systems like Alipay and WeChat Pay are dominant, but setting these up as a foreigner can be complex; having a Traveloka PayLater option or a credit card is often more practical. Consider purchasing a local SIM card at the airport for data access, or ensure your roaming plan is adequate. Essential apps include a reliable translation app and a map application like Baidu Maps or Amap, as Google Maps has limited functionality in China. Use Traveloka to find the best flights — book flight.

Visa Information for Entering China to Visit Futian

For Philippine passport holders planning a trip to Futian, understanding China's visa requirements is a crucial first step. As of current regulations, Philippine passport holders generally require a visa to enter mainland China for tourism or business purposes. Visa-free entry is typically not an option for standard tourist visits. The most common route is to apply for a tourist visa (L visa) in advance through the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) or the Chinese Embassy/Consulates in the Philippines. This process usually involves submitting an application form, passport, photographs, and supporting documents such as proof of accommodation and onward travel.

The application process for a Chinese tourist visa typically requires a minimum of 4-7 working days for processing, though it's always recommended to apply at least 3-4 weeks before your intended travel date to allow for any unforeseen delays. The fees can vary but generally range from ₱ 4,000 to ₱ 6,000, depending on the visa type and processing speed. Essential documents include a passport valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay, with at least two blank pages, a completed visa application form, recent passport-sized photos, and a confirmed flight itinerary and hotel bookings for your stay in Futian.

Given that visa policies can change, it is imperative for all travellers, especially those from the Philippines, to verify the latest requirements directly with the official channels of the Chinese government or its embassy in the Philippines before making any non-refundable bookings. Confirming your visa status and understanding all entry regulations well in advance of your trip will prevent any last-minute complications. While Futian is a modern and welcoming district, ensuring all travel documentation is in order is the key to a seamless entry into China and a delightful exploration of its vibrant cities.
