Macdonald Bath Spa

Amazing stay…fantastic team and service - my new favourite stay in Bath.. !

The hotel is really well positioned to explore Bath on foot. We stayed 3 nights. Our experience could have been better - overall it was ok. On arrival, we discovered a used towel from the previous guests hanging on the back of the door, and a half eaten apple was in the fridge. We asked reception to come and sort it out, but had to return to ask them to do something, before the desk clerk turned up and chucked replacement towels on the bed three hours later. It was ok, just not great. The following evening, (admittedly a very hot day) we noticed the air con in the room was blowing, but not chilling. Another trip to the desk to ask what they could do, the answer was nothing. A porter was sent to press all the buttons, and advise us on how to complain. A very uncomfortable and sleepless night. I was advised to email, but couldn't find contact details, and my chat requests on the booking app remain unanswered. The good things about our stay were: the Spa is really good. The gym facilities were warm, but well set up, and there was always space to work out. The pool was large enough not to feel crowded, and the external pool was really pleasant (warm!). The gardens are really nice. The communal spaces felt well appointed and looked after, and there was a huge TV showing world cup matches, which was good. The buildings are grand. I guess my reflection was our experience didn't match the billing.

There was a problem with the room. But they did move us. I don't think Pets should be allowed in a hotel like this, we were moved as the room next door had a barking dog. Otherwise, beautiful grounds and rooms. Staff at breakfast very welcoming, good quality food. Spa was clean. And a good stay

Beautiful hotel with lovely grounds and an excellent spa area. The room was comfortable and fortunately the weather wasn't too warm, as the air conditioning wasn't working during our stay. There was also a persistent clicking noise from the air vent system near the room entrance, which was quite annoying, especially at night. Aside from those issues, we had a very pleasant stay and found the hotel to be well maintained and relaxing.

Stunning and tranquil location, it's the perfect place to get away from the outside world while still having easy access into the city centre to explore.

Very helpful staff, nothing is to much. The room was very clean.

Good location for Bath centre. All amenities good and drinks not to expensive for a hotel in Bath. Good choice at breakfast

The outdoor pool and bathing area is a bit tired and could do with a clean up. The sun loungers are a bit past their best before usage date! Fabulous outdoor cinema night as the weather was so warm.

Absolutely great hotel. Highly recommend. Lovely gardens and peaceful setting. Close to town - a nice 15-20 min walk through the park straight into the centre of town. Room was big, clean and beds really comfy with soft feather pillows. Dog friendly too! The spa area was excellent. Steam tools, saunas and an ice room. The best part was the outdoor thermal pool. Definitely would return.

A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting, the spa and pools were great to use after sightseeing. Bath town is only about a 15/20 minute walk with lots to see. If we come back to Bath we would definitely stay here again. We only had one bar meal whilst staying but that was very nice too .

Initially some issues with the room where we raised it with the front desk and was moved promptly to another one. Spa and Pool in need of renovation, the outdoor is also in need of some love. Bar staff extremely slow outside, to the point it was quicker to go inside and order rather than waiting. Really good location, and the hotel could do so much better with some a bit more care and attention to the property and service. Will be back and hopefully it'll be improved!

Amazing

The hotel was absolutely beautiful, the staff was very accommodating and polite. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

It was a girls trip and our first time staying at MacDonald Spa in Bath. It was a beautiful historical building, but unfortunately had things that were broken down. All that said, my friend and I went to the front desk and they immediately moved us to a different room, also providing some chocolates and prosecco. I believe we heard the hotel will be undergoing some renovations.
