We arrived and got put in a small room where the windows wouldn’t open and the camp bed for our daughter was broken, but after a disappointing start we were moved into a much nicer room with the staff being very lovely about it. The rest of the stay was wonderful, it’s a short stroll into Bath Centre, the spa whilst very busy and cramped at times was nicer when it was quieter, the breakfast room was quite special although the fruit selection could have been a bit broader the hot breakfast was delicious. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful, all in all we had a very nice stay and would definitely stay again.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room (courtyard suite) was tired- chairs needed cleaning and foam in seats replacing, the wooden furniture was chipped. The spa was not good, staff were on phones and chatting at the reception area, meanwhile the changing rooms were full.if discarded slippers and towels and leaves from outside. The pool and decking area was also not kept clean and didn't look cared for (paper cups, weeds (nettles) and empty bin bags. There was a member of staff sweeping at the time we were in the pool but he wasn't doing it particularly thoroughly and swept around piles of seeds and leaves from the trees. The spa terrace and changing rooms were too small for the number of people using them so it didn't feel very relaxing. The hotel terrace was a nice, calm place to sit, as was the lounge and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast was disappointing. Continental was 20 and there was very limited choice of pastries, meats, cheese and bread. The cooked was £26 and didn't feel like much more than I would get at a premier inn breakfast, bacon was pale, packet hashbrown and watery scrambled egg.fab location for bath city centre and front gardens were relaxing and well maintained. Not good value for money and disappointing for a 5 star hotel.

The room however was very warm and we could not get the air conditioning to work - even with the window open it was unbearable. Careful when purchasing drinks from the bar as some bar staff will charge for service ( I’d understand more if they bought the drink to me in the lounge), only noticed when the same round of drinks were different prices. It’s a nice place in a good location, taxi into Bath is around £10. Staff are friendly enough.

The check in was smooth and the receptionist were really helpful. The room was lovely - the hotel and the grounds are stunning. Food was exceptional as was the service. The room was not clean when we entered. There were dead bugs in the tub and some unknown substance near the sink. The white towels had brown / red stains. We asked for a change of the towels and those also had brown / red stains. Hotel is pretty old - paint is flaking off everywhere. No slippers in the room (had to ask for it). No tooth brush / tooth paste. Calls to conceirge were not answered. In terms of staff, I expected them to move my bags into my room given I'd dropped off my bags with them prior to my check in and then went outside for lunch / to explore the city. Spa wise - pretty well equipped with 2 saunas, 1 steam room, 1 salt room and 1 ice room.

Gorgeous building, room and well maintained gardens, however for a 5* hotel the service was poor, the staff seemed less than enthusiastic towards guests and there was no feeling of warmth or welcome from them. Possibly because they where so few in number. The hotel seriously lacks enough staff to provide much of a service. They hardly provide you with any extras in the room with only 2 coffee pods provided each day with nothing other than coffee top ups provided beyond the first day. The spa area was fantastic, 10 years ago but now its very worn and showing its age.I couldnt believe that for this level of hotel how dirty and unclean it was. Brown tide marks around the pool, black mould on the shower heads in the thermal area and the ice room smelt mouldy and was covered in black mould especially around the tube where the ice came out, the shower head and the cubicle. All the fancy showers in the thermal area didnt work as they should or didnt work at all. Most of the thermal pool jets didnt work apart from the odd few, tiles were missing, dirty windows and unclean floors. This hotel whilst lovely needs to seriously look at the service it is providing especially to guests who stay beyond a couple of days and invest maintenance and a deep clean of its spa area. Sadly this was far from a five star experience.

No tooth brush / tooth paste. Calls to conceirge were not answered. In terms of staff, I expected them to move my bags into my room given I'd dropped off my bags with them prior to my check in and then went outside for lunch / to explore the city. Spa wise - pretty well equipped with 2 saunas, 1 steam room, 1 salt room and 1 ice room.

Gorgeous building, room and well maintained gardens, however for a 5* hotel the service was poor, the staff seemed less than enthusiastic towards guests and there was no feeling of warmth or welcome from them. Possibly because they where so few in number. The hotel seriously lacks enough staff to provide much of a service. They hardly provide you with any extras in the room with only 2 coffee pods provided each day with nothing other than coffee top ups provided beyond the first day. The spa area was fantastic, 10 years ago but now its very worn and showing its age.I couldnt believe that for this level of hotel how dirty and unclean it was. Brown tide marks around the pool, black mould on the shower heads in the thermal area and the ice room smelt mouldy and was covered in black mould especially around the tube where the ice came out, the shower head and the cubicle. All the fancy showers in the thermal area didnt work as they should or didnt work at all. Most of the thermal pool jets didnt work apart from the odd few, tiles were missing, dirty windows and unclean floors. This hotel whilst lovely needs to seriously look at the service it is providing especially to guests who stay beyond a couple of days and invest maintenance and a deep clean of its spa area. Sadly this was far from a five star experience.
