Macdonald Bath Spa

Wasn’t the best no body wash, mold in the shower no one greeting you long line to speak to the desk. Rude staff at breakfast and long wait, property was not very well maintained

Beautiful location. One of most expensive hotels and lovely se ting and hotel plus gardens. Let down somewhat by outsourcing some services and understaffing. Some tired fixtures and fittings. Parking in particular is badly served. Why charge for parking? And why for guest to then register with outside agency to pay? Crazy.

Lovely staff, great rooms, pool was lovely but busy. The biggest single let down was breakfast. It was OK nothing special but charging £4 for a speciality coffee and then £6 to upgrade your breakfast for a come of extra bits was just cheap and penny pinching. I typically spend 100+ nights a year in hotels from 3* to 5* and the breakfast thing stuck out out bad.

The room was a little dated, but very comfortable and lots of space, aircon was lovely in the warm weather and mini fridge was handy. Spa was nice, although pool was very busy not great for lane swimming. Variety of saunas and steam rooms was good and the outdoor area was really nice although busy. Only had a quick lunch, service was fairly slow having to find staff a few times before we were given menus or had orde taken. Sandwiches were very good, although expensive for what they were, we chose to go I to bath for meals during the rest of our stay. Overall a really nice hotel, the people on the desk were very helpful and friendly, helped us out a few times when in need.

I was left somewhat frustrated to pay £16 per head for breakfast for 3 people - total £48. I ordered the larger cooked breakfast and was then asked to pay an extra £6. The bigger breakfast had an egg and a pice of black pudding. This has left a negative feeling of what was an otherwise excellent stay at the hotel.

Absolutely fantastic stay. The staff were so helpful and friendly and really attentive. The rooms were lovely, clean and a great size. The spa facilities, although in slight need of a refresh (as in a few tiles were missing), were an absolute highlight and actually larger than we were expecting. The hotel was also in a great location about 10-15 minute walk into town. Would definitely recommend the hotel and would love to stay again.

Room was not clean on arrival with Malteser and popcorn wrappers in draw. Mirrors not clean on sliding wardrobe and bathroom needed to be cleaned around toilet room, with a constant tap drip! Staff were excellent when approached! The ladies in the Spa were all very good as well as the bar staff!

Lovely stay, beautiful balcony looking over the garden. Very peaceful.

PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! I booked 2 rooms a twin for my elderly parents and a deluxe room for me and my husband. Where do I start? My parents room was on the 1st floor hallway smelt of damp carpet stained, their room was at the front of the hotel and overlooked the beautiful countryside, well thats if they could see out of the window..the glass had blown so they couldn't see out, the air-conditioning didn't work instead they were given 2 fans! The room was dated and tired broken bathroom tiles bath cracked and had nail Polish on it. The spa is terrible it reminds me of a local leisure centre, very tired, and dirty the indoor pool needs a deep clean, the steam room had lights missing so just bare holes in the roof and the seating had loads of tiles missing and sauna and salt rooms don't work properly, the outdoor pool was filthy the tiles need a deep clean the pools need money spent on it..the outdoor area has various broken floor tiles so you cant walk barefoot outside.The whole hotel needs a makeover, the breakfast is below standard.My honest opinion is spend the extra money and stay elsewhere, we were very disappointed..I will be sending an email to head office of the hotel to complain!

A great choice of hotel to visit Bath. Lovely, large and comfortable bedrooms, excellent decor and atmosphere and good dining. Plus a very nice spa. It's about a mile's walk into the city centre, but a very enjoyable one!

The property is nice but the spa area in particular could do with renovation, we stayed to visit Bath town which is lovely- I would however be disappointed if we had booked the hotel for a spa break.

Disappointing bathroom, mould around the bath and lots of chipped paint. They only service your room if you put a service sign on the door handle which we were unaware of and did not have the appropriate sign provided in our room. In my opinion, not up to the 5 star rating.

Overall this is a good hotel very clean and in beautiful surroundings.The room was adequate and again kept clean and tidy Our disappointment came on the first day when I ordered a full English Breakfast at just gone 9am and had to chase the waiter twice before it was delivered at nearly 10 am- I did not bother again after that. The next day I ordered a beer and cider- both were sold out but in fairness the replacement was free of charge

Lovely setting, good location, nice room. DEFINITELY NOT 5 STAR. I believe it used to be. It’s not now. Staff on the whole very useless, don’t seem to know what’s what. Despite rooms being ready no check in allowed even 11 mins early. No valet yet signs for. No concierge yet signs for. Spa is very far from 5*- mould growing and smells damp. Used tampons from previous guests in bathroom bins, rubbish in corridors, every other guest complaining. We experienced several several issues. And only got £100 back in compensation. It’s like faulty towers!

My room wasn’t ready when I arrived and had to wait until 4:15pm for my room with a child and health issues after lengthy traveling. Not enough trowels in the room. Air conditioner in the room broken. Reception Toilets messy with no toilet paper in them. Breakfast a massive disappointment. They are basically trying to save money on everything and it make it unpleasant for the paying customer.

Rommet var rent og romslig. Uteområdet var vakkert. Lobbyen og hotellets arealer var pene. Ansatte hyggelige. Frokosten var ikke bra. Spaet med bassengene var slitt, skittent, ikke fristende å bade der.

The only thing that let this stunning place down was the pool!! Cracked tiles, uneven serfice could of fallen and broken your leg on the outside pool terrace ( not even joking) far to small outdated and BADLY needs a revamp, went twice to get a sun bed there wasn’t any, loads out the back stacked up broken Come on guys a beautiful place like this, the grounds are to die for, Absolutly stunning Sort the dirty grotty pool area space out Only reason why wouldn’t stay again
