The hotel was excellent. I thought the room would be small, but it wasn't. I've tried NEOs everywhere (Bali, Jogja, and Solo) and have never been disappointed. The receptionist service was also excellent and greeted me warmly. The valet service was professional and reliable, considering the limited parking area around the hotel.

First time on holiday to Solo. Was confused about choosing accommodation. Finally found this and booked for 1 night first, junior suite type. When we got there, the atmosphere was really nice, felt like home, cool, quiet, the surroundings were also not noisy, there was a garden and swings for children to play, breakfast while looking at the garden really felt like home. All the staff were very friendly. Asked what kind of welcome drink would you like, can ask for extra towels because there were 4 of us. We added 2 more nights even though we moved to a superior room because our room was booked. They helped us move and we were given full breakfast even though the app only listed 2 plus 1 extra bed. The guy helped us a lot, even wrote down recommendations for tourist attractions and places to eat in Solo. He explained at length, even alternative transportation in this high season atmosphere. When we were about to go home, he gave us bread for breakfast (because the train was early, we wouldn't have time for breakfast). Thank you very much. God willing, the next time we go to Solo, we will definitely stay here again.

Local Etiquette & Safety in Pasar Kliwon

Understanding local customs and etiquette is key to a respectful and enjoyable visit to Pasar Kliwon. Javanese culture places a high value on politeness, respect, and maintaining harmony. When interacting with locals, a gentle demeanor and a polite greeting, such as "Selamat pagi" (Good morning) or "Terima kasih" (Thank you), go a long way. It's considered polite to use your right hand for giving and receiving items, and to avoid pointing with a single finger, instead using an open hand. Dressing modestly, especially when visiting religious sites or more traditional areas, is also appreciated.

When visiting popular landmarks like Luwes Gading or the vicinity of Amira, maintaining respectful behaviour is important. While Luwes Gading is a commercial centre, dressing neatly is advisable. For cultural sites, modest attire is recommended, covering shoulders and knees. Photography is generally permitted, but it's always courteous to ask for permission before taking close-up photos of individuals, especially in more traditional settings. Queuing culture is generally observed, and patience is a virtue when navigating busy areas or waiting for services.

Pasar Kliwon is generally a safe destination for international travellers, with low crime rates. However, as with any travel, it's wise to take standard precautions. Keep your valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, particularly in crowded markets. For transportation, reputable ride-hailing apps like Grab are widely available and offer a convenient and relatively safe way to get around. Familiarizing yourself with basic Indonesian phrases can also be helpful for communication and navigating local transport options effectively.

In case of emergencies, local police can be contacted via emergency numbers. For medical assistance, inquire at your hotel for the nearest reputable clinic or hospital. Filipino travellers should note that the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta is the primary diplomatic mission, and it's advisable to have their contact details handy. For any urgent consular assistance, reaching out to the embassy or the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Manila is recommended. Considering travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and trip disruptions is a prudent step for all international visitors.

During these months, you can expect pleasant weather with lower humidity and minimal rainfall, ideal for outdoor exploration and sightseeing. Visa Information for Indonesia

For Philippine passport holders planning to visit Indonesia to explore Pasar Kliwon, understanding the visa requirements is crucial. As of current regulations, Philippine citizens are generally granted visa-free entry into Indonesia for short stays, typically up to 30 days. This allows for convenient travel for tourism purposes without the need for a pre-arranged visa. However, it is always recommended to verify the latest visa policies with the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate in the Philippines, as regulations can be subject to change.

The visa-free entry for Filipino travellers usually requires a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity from the date of entry. Additionally, travellers may be asked to present proof of onward travel, such as a return or onward flight ticket, and sometimes proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay. While no visa fee is associated with this visa-free facility, any extensions or stays beyond the permitted duration will require proper application and may incur fees and penalties.

It is imperative for all travellers, including those from the Philippines, to confirm the most current visa regulations directly with Indonesia's official immigration authorities or the Indonesian Embassy in their country of residence before making any travel arrangements. Policies regarding entry requirements, permitted lengths of stay, and any necessary documentation can be updated without prior notice. Ensuring your visa status is confirmed before you book flight will prevent any last-minute complications.
