The hotel's location is very strategic, close to everything. Oh yeah, free access to Gedung Juang. I'd definitely stay here again next time.

First time on holiday to Solo. Was confused about choosing accommodation. Finally found this and booked for 1 night first, junior suite type. When we got there, the atmosphere was really nice, felt like home, cool, quiet, the surroundings were also not noisy, there was a garden and swings for children to play, breakfast while looking at the garden really felt like home. All the staff were very friendly. Asked what kind of welcome drink would you like, can ask for extra towels because there were 4 of us. We added 2 more nights even though we moved to a superior room because our room was booked. They helped us move and we were given full breakfast even though the app only listed 2 plus 1 extra bed. The guy helped us a lot, even wrote down recommendations for tourist attractions and places to eat in Solo. He explained at length, even alternative transportation in this high season atmosphere. When we were about to go home, he gave us bread for breakfast (because the train was early, we wouldn't have time for breakfast). Thank you very much. God willing, the next time we go to Solo, we will definitely stay here again.

The hotel was excellent. I thought the room would be small, but it wasn't. I've tried NEOs everywhere (Bali, Jogja, and Solo) and have never been disappointed. The receptionist service was also excellent and greeted me warmly. The valet service was professional and reliable, considering the limited parking area around the hotel.

Understanding and respecting local customs is key to a harmonious visit in Pasar Kliwon. Javanese culture places a high value on politeness, respect, and maintaining social harmony. Greetings are important; a slight nod and a smile are common. When visiting religious sites or someone's home, it's customary to remove your shoes. Public displays of affection are generally frowned upon, and it's advisable to dress modestly, especially when visiting more traditional or religious areas within Pasar Kliwon.

When exploring Pasar Kliwon, particularly its historical sites and markets, being mindful of local etiquette is appreciated. Dress codes are generally relaxed in tourist areas, but covering shoulders and knees is recommended when visiting mosques or temples. Photography is usually permitted, but it's always polite to ask for permission before taking close-up photos of individuals. Queueing is not always strictly observed, so patience and awareness of your surroundings are beneficial when navigating crowded spaces.

Safety in Pasar Kliwon is generally good, with petty crime being the most common concern. It's advisable to keep valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded markets. For transportation, ride-hailing apps like Grab are widely available and offer a convenient and relatively safe way to get around. Familiarizing yourself with the local currency and having small denominations for smaller purchases can be helpful. Offline map applications are also useful for navigating the city independently.

In case of emergencies in Pasar Kliwon, local police can be contacted via emergency numbers. For Filipino travellers, it's important to know the location of the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate in Indonesia, which can provide assistance in emergencies. Keeping contact information for the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) can also be beneficial. For health concerns, it's recommended to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and to consult with your doctor regarding any necessary vaccinations before your trip.

Getting to Pasar Kliwon and Getting Around

Reaching Pasar Kliwon from the Philippines involves a flight to one of Indonesia's major international airports, typically followed by a domestic connection or onward travel. Flights from Manila (MNL), Cebu (CEB), or other Philippine hubs to Jakarta (CGK) or Surabaya (SUB) are common, with prices varying but often ranging from ₱10,000 to ₱25,000 for round trips, depending on the season and booking time. From these Indonesian gateways, you would then book a domestic flight to Adi Soemarmo International Airport (SOC), which serves the broader Solo region where Pasar Kliwon is located. The journey from SOC to Pasar Kliwon typically takes around 30-60 minutes by taxi or ride-sharing service.

Navigating within Pasar Kliwon and its surrounding areas is facilitated by a mix of local transport options. Ride-hailing apps like Grab are widely used and offer a convenient way to travel between neighbourhoods, with fares generally being quite affordable, often ranging from ₱50 to ₱200 for most journeys within the city. Local buses and minivans (angkot) are even cheaper but can be more challenging for first-time visitors to navigate. For shorter distances, becaks (bicycle rickshaws) offer a more traditional and leisurely mode of transport, perfect for exploring local streets.

The best time to visit Pasar Kliwon generally aligns with Indonesia's dry season, which typically runs from May to September. During these months, you can expect sunny days and lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor exploration of the region's historical sites and markets. While this period can be considered peak season, leading to slightly higher hotel prices, it offers the most pleasant weather. The shoulder months of April and October can also be good options, offering a balance of favourable weather and fewer crowds.

Before embarking on your journey to Pasar Kliwon, a few pre-departure preparations are essential. Ensure you have local currency, Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), readily available, though major hotels and some shops may accept credit cards. Purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival at the airport is highly recommended for data access, enabling the use of navigation and ride-hailing apps. Essential apps to download include Google Maps, a translation app, and the Grab app. Confirming your passport validity and any necessary travel documents well in advance is also crucial. Visa Information

For Philippine passport holders planning to visit Indonesia to explore Pasar Kliwon, understanding the visa requirements is a crucial step. As of current regulations, Philippine citizens are generally granted visa-free entry into Indonesia for tourism purposes for a stay of up to 30 days. This allows for a convenient and straightforward entry process, making it easier for travellers to plan their trips without the need for a pre-arranged visa. It is always advisable to confirm the latest visa policies with official sources before your travel dates.

The visa-free entry for Philippine passport holders typically requires that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay and that you possess proof of onward travel, such as a return or onward flight ticket. While no visa fee is associated with this visa-free facility, travellers should be prepared to present their passport and potentially other supporting documents upon arrival. The immigration officers at the point of entry will make the final decision on entry.

While visa-free entry is a significant convenience, it is always recommended for travellers to verify the most current visa regulations with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Philippines or the official Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration website before booking flights. Immigration policies can change, and staying informed ensures a smooth and hassle-free entry into Indonesia for your visit to Pasar Kliwon.
