This was our second stay at this hotel. My kids and I had a pleasant experience here. We booked the Junior Suite for 5 days. The room was clean and spacious, the staff was kind and helpful. I was hesitant because I saw bad reviews, but thank God it was really satisfying😍 The security guard was really rude, I think he was the rudest security guard I've ever met, but the receptionist was really friendly (an old man) and they didn't ask for a deposit either. I slept in room 107, the room was clean, tidy, and fragrant. There was a blanket, 2 pillows, and 2 towels (not neat because I took a photo after using them), the bathroom was clean. The water was also running. There was shampoo and soap in the toilet. In addition, the TV was on, and the AC was also working well. It was a bit difficult to open the door, but when I asked for help, they responded quickly, although they didn't smile enough, maybe because they were tired. Overall, I was really satisfied staying here last night😍

More about hotels in Pulo Gadung

Pulo Gadung: A Gateway to Jakarta's Dynamic East

Indonesia, an archipelago renowned for its diverse cultures and breathtaking landscapes, offers countless destinations that captivate the international traveller. Beyond the well-trodden paths of Bali and Java's ancient temples, lies a region brimming with local life and accessible urban experiences: Pulo Gadung. This eastern district of Jakarta presents a unique blend of commercial activity, residential charm, and burgeoning cultural hubs, making it an intriguing alternative for those seeking a more authentic glimpse into Indonesian urban living. It’s a place where the pulse of daily life is palpable, offering a different rhythm than the more tourist-centric areas.

Pulo Gadung itself is not a monolithic entity but a mosaic of distinct neighbourhoods, each contributing to its multifaceted character. From the bustling commercial zones of Rawamangun to the more tranquil residential pockets in Kayu Putih, and the developing areas of Jati and the core Pulo Gadung district, the choice of where to base yourself significantly shapes your experience. Understanding these nuances is key to unlocking the full potential of your visit, allowing you to tailor your stay to your preferences, whether you seek vibrant street life, convenient access to business districts, or a peaceful retreat.

For international visitors, particularly those from the United States, Europe, and India, Pulo Gadung offers compelling value. With an average starting price around ₱ 387.74 per night for budget accommodations like hostels, and mid-range hotels often falling between ₱ 1,000 to ₱ 2,500 (approximately $7 to $17 USD), it presents an attractive proposition for extended stays or for travellers mindful of their budget. This affordability, coupled with the genuine local experiences available, positions Pulo Gadung as a smart choice for exploring Jakarta without the premium price tag of more central tourist zones.

The accommodation landscape in Pulo Gadung is as varied as its neighbourhoods, with areas like Rawamangun and Kayu Putih offering a good starting point for exploration. Rawamangun, for instance, is known for its mix of hotels and residential complexes, providing a lively yet accessible base. Kayu Putih, on the other hand, might offer a slightly more serene environment, often featuring hotels that cater to both business and leisure travellers. Exploring these areas through Traveloka allows you to find the perfect spot to book hotel accommodations that suit your needs and budget.

Ultimately, Pulo Gadung appeals to a broad spectrum of international travellers. American visitors might appreciate the emerging urban exploration opportunities and the chance to experience a less curated side of Jakarta. European travellers, often drawn to cultural immersion, will find the local markets and everyday life in Pulo Gadung a rich source of discovery. Indian travellers can find familiar flavours and a welcoming atmosphere, with the region offering excellent value for money. While direct connections for African travellers might be less common, Pulo Gadung provides a gateway to understanding Indonesian urban dynamics that can be relevant for regional business or cultural exchange.

Best Areas to Stay in Pulo Gadung

Pulo Gadung, a significant district in East Jakarta, offers a diverse range of experiences across its various neighbourhoods. For international visitors, understanding these distinct areas is crucial for crafting a memorable trip. Each locale presents a unique atmosphere, from bustling commercial hubs to quieter residential enclaves, influencing everything from dining options to daily commutes. Choosing the right base within Pulo Gadung can significantly enhance your exploration of Jakarta's dynamic eastern side.

Rawamangun

Rawamangun presents a lively and accessible urban environment, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors. This area buzzes with commercial activity, featuring numerous shops, eateries, and residential buildings. For international travellers, it offers a genuine slice of Jakarta life, with a good mix of modern amenities and traditional Indonesian charm. It's particularly well-suited for those who enjoy being in the midst of activity and appreciate convenient access to daily necessities and local culture. Hotels like the highly-rated ASYANA PEMUDA JAKARTA and Luxury Inn Arion Hotel are situated here, offering comfortable stays.

From Rawamangun, exploring Jakarta is relatively straightforward. The area is served by various public transport options, including TransJakarta bus routes, making it easy to reach other parts of the city. Nearby attractions include the Jakarta International Velodrome and the bustling Pramuka Market, known for its diverse goods. For those looking to explore further afield, the convenient location allows for relatively quick access to other parts of East Jakarta and beyond. You can easily book attractions and tours that depart from or pass through this well-connected district.

Kayu Putih

Kayu Putih offers a slightly more refined and residential feel compared to some of Pulo Gadung's more commercial districts. It's an area where you can find a balance between urban convenience and a more peaceful atmosphere. This makes it appealing to travellers who prefer a quieter base while still being within easy reach of Jakarta's main attractions and business centres. The presence of established hotels like Novotel Jakarta Pulo Mas and C'One Pulomas Hotel suggests a well-developed infrastructure catering to visitors seeking comfort and reliable services.

This neighbourhood is known for its green spaces and well-planned residential areas, providing a pleasant environment for a stay. It’s also in proximity to the Pulomas area, which hosts various sports facilities and event venues. Getting to Kayu Putih from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) typically involves a taxi or ride-sharing service, taking approximately 45-60 minutes depending on traffic. The area’s accessibility via major roads facilitates easy exploration of nearby shopping malls and local culinary spots.

Jati

Jati represents a more local and perhaps less developed facet of Pulo Gadung, offering a glimpse into everyday Indonesian life away from the main tourist trails. For travellers seeking an authentic experience and a chance to interact with the local community, Jati can be a rewarding area to explore. It’s characterized by a mix of residential housing and small businesses, providing a grounded perspective on the district. Budget-friendly accommodations like RedDoorz Plus @ Jalan Pemuda Jakarta are found here, appealing to those prioritizing affordability and local immersion.

While Jati might not boast major tourist landmarks within its immediate vicinity, its charm lies in its authenticity. Visitors can discover local warungs (small eateries) serving traditional Indonesian fare and experience the neighbourhood's daily rhythm. Access to Jati is primarily via road, with TransJakarta buses serving nearby main roads. For travellers arriving from the airport, a taxi or ride-sharing service is the most practical option, offering a direct route to their accommodation in this less-touristed part of Pulo Gadung.

Pulo Gadung (Central District)

The central Pulo Gadung district itself is a significant commercial and industrial hub, reflecting the economic engine of East Jakarta. For business travellers or those interested in the industrial landscape of the region, this area is highly relevant. It’s a place of constant activity, with a strong presence of businesses and logistical operations. While perhaps less focused on traditional tourism, it offers a unique perspective on Jakarta's economic development. The presence of guesthouses like NamRoom at Pulomas indicates accommodation options catering to a diverse range of visitors, including those on business trips.

This district is well-connected by major roadways, facilitating movement within and out of the area. It’s home to various industrial estates and commercial centres, providing opportunities for business-related visits. For leisure, exploring the local markets and experiencing the authentic street food scene can be a rewarding activity. Getting to the central Pulo Gadung district from the airport involves a journey of about 45-60 minutes by car, depending on traffic conditions, making it a relatively accessible part of the city for those with specific business or logistical interests.

When visiting places like ASYANA PEMUDA JAKARTA or Luxury Inn Arion Hotel, and indeed most establishments in Indonesia, dressing modestly is appreciated, especially when visiting religious sites or more traditional areas. The TransJakarta bus system is an extensive and affordable network that serves many parts of the city, including areas within and around Pulo Gadung. For shorter distances within neighbourhoods, walking or hiring a local becak (cycle rickshaw) can also be an option.

The best time to visit Pulo Gadung, and Jakarta in general, is during the dry season, which typically runs from June to September. During these months, you can expect less rainfall and more sunshine, making it ideal for exploring the city's outdoor attractions and markets. While this period can be considered peak season, leading to slightly higher hotel prices, it generally offers the most pleasant weather. The shoulder months of April-May and October-November can also be good times to visit, with fewer crowds and potentially better deals on accommodation.

Before you depart for Pulo Gadung, ensure you have a few essentials sorted. The local currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). While major hotels and some larger establishments accept credit cards, it's advisable to carry some cash for street food, local markets, and smaller vendors. You can exchange currency at the airport or in the city. Purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival at the airport is recommended for easy data access, enabling the use of navigation and ride-hailing apps. Essential apps to download include Google Maps, Google Translate, and your preferred ride-hailing service.

Highly recommended! We are on vacation with friends 2 nights here feeling vacation outside the city. Because the place is comfortable, clean, and the housekeeper is very helpful. Just really better bring private vehicles because they are in the housing complex. If there is a chance, you will stay overnight at EUCATEL88! Thank you
