Really glad to have a staycation in Wyndham, the room was big, even the bathroom was so spacious, and the swimming pool was so big. My kids love it. The breakfast is so varied, and it tastes good, they do have Indonesian famous noodles stall, there. The staff was so friendly, especially Pak Iskandar, who really helped us a lot, during our stay. The cleanliness also got the point, the room was clean and well maintained. The location was near Mall Kokas, only a 5mins walk and voila! Arrived. Thank you Wyndham, we’ll be back for sure.

10 people stayed in the 3-bedroom unit: my mom, my brother, my sister & her husband & 3 children, my cousin, my husband, and me. We truly had a lovely time together. The rooms fit perfect for us. We cooked, we washed and dried our clothes, we watched movies, we swam, so many things we can do! The building management was kind enough to come to our room and give instructions on how to use the utilities at the unit. We stayed in other branches before, it's the same feel! We love it ❤️ Ascott never fails our big family staycation

The hotel itself is really old but maintained well. The location is superb, you can just walk anywhere in the neighbourhood and loads of great places in the area. Hotel service (the hotel staff) are well trained, most of the are seniors, extremely helpful. PS: the hotel carpet smells and the shower is awful.

A truly nice experience. The hotel is located right in the middle of Jakarta, on the same street as Sarinah I believe. Not too far from Gambir either and it's just gonna a 15-minute walk to Bundaran HI. The hotel is really nice, it's classy but cosy and the hallways smell really nice as well. The room was nice, it's not that small and everything seems very clean & well-maintained. The design was rather minimalist and classy. Breakfast was good, WIFI was fast, shower was nice, I really don't have anything bad to say. The only thing I noticed is that the restaurant feels a little bit small considering how many guests were staying but it wasn't that much of an issue for me. Overall, we had a great experience staying at the hotel and it was actually quite affordable considering the quality that we got compared to other similarly priced hotels in Jakarta. Would definitely come back and stay here again next time!

The room I stayed in (superior) was comfortably larger than most city hotels. It was nicely furnished (I mostly liked the writing desk), the bed and sheets was clean and comfy. The bathroom was also nice and well-cleaned. The front office staffs were helpful and friendly. The main plus for me was this hotel is a stone-throw away from Atrium Plaza, a mid size shopping mall.

It was our 4th transit stay in the hotel this year. The good thing was Room 1001 located same level as the breakfast area. Breakfast however was a little disappointment this time with the chicken hard and one of the local kueh already bad. The chicken porridge was dried too, more like soft rice and not porridge. To add to the unpleasant experience was that the quilt cover was not a fresh piece! Smelled used. Kindly look into improving the situation. Thank you.

I felt spooky cause my room (209) need to pass the gym area and its dark at night. My friend said he saw “something” there after back picked up go food at 12am. We requested for ice bucket and need to go downstairs as it self-service, and voila he saw another something in the corridor near our room. I just felt not comfortable in that room, always feel frightened. The room itself has main door that can't push smoothly, need maintenance. The shower has powerless waterdrop. Food was tasty but not having much choices. I will not go back to there.

About

Apart from being the centre of politics and economy, DKI Jakarta (Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta) is also the largest city in Indonesia. Most of its large areas are located in low areas.

Jakarta Business District

Jakarta is known as “the land of opportunity and entertainment”. This city offers a wide range of opportunity to build careers and have fun. Out of 170 malls and entertainment sites, visitors are given different kinds of places to shop, find entertainment, and take in leisure time.

As the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta is one of the most populated cities in the world. Population keeps increasing due to the fact that many people from other cities in Indonesia migrate to Jakarta to find jobs or study. Gradually, these people began to spread across other regions around Jakarta such as Tangerang, Bekasi, Bogor and Depok. The most populated is currently East Jakarta.

For those who love traditional food,

sights offer more than just ketoprak and kerak telor. This city offers plentiful choices of traditional to international food spots spread around food stalls, cafe as well as cheap and fancy restaurants.

Jakarta Major Areas

Jakarta area is divided into 5 municipalities:

Central Jakarta

Central Jakarta is the smallest municipality. Until now, it is also the centre of government. Several popular buildings in Central Jakarta are: Merdeka Palace, National Palace, National Library, National Monument (Monas), Istiqlal Mosque and Cathedral.

West Jakarta

West Jakarta is dominated by small and growing industries. This part of Jakarta also offers many Dutch legacies such as Kota Intan Bridge, Langgam China Building, National Archives of Indonesia and Red Store (Toko Merah).

South Jakarta

Initially planned as a satellite city, South Jakarta has several modern malls and exclusive settlements. Once known as the greenest area in Jakarta, today’s South Jakarta is covered by many modern buildings. Several well-known destinations in South Jakarta are ABRI Satriamandala Museum and Al-Azhar Mosque.

East Jakarta

East Jakarta is the most populated part of Jakarta with a number of rice fields still existing in some parts of its areas. Two historical destinations in East Jakarta are Lubang Buaya and Prince Jayakarta’s Grave.

North Jakarta

North Jakarta is the only area in Jakarta with access to the sea, precisely located in Tanjung Priok Harbour. Some parts of Kota Tua (Old Town) in West Jakarta are also located in North Jakarta. Historical buildings in North Jakarta are Tugu Church, Bahari Museum, and Si Pitung Village.

Jakarta History

Jakarta Downtown

The name Jakarta has changed several times from Sunda Kelapa, Jayakarta, Batavia, Djakarta and now Jakarta. Prior to the 16th century, it was a harbour city under the rule of the Tarumanagara Empire. Kalapa was the first harbour under the Sunda Empire.

In the 16th century, Sunda Kelapa was under the Portuguese troops. However, Fatahillah from the Sultanate of Demak later invaded Portugal, seized Sunda Kelapa and changed the name to Jayakarta. Some time in 1596, a war occurred in Jayakarta after it was visited by the Dutch and English troops. When the war had ended, Jayakarta was ruled by the Dutch people.

As the Dutch power became stronger in Jayakarta, more Dutch people came to Indonesia and governed many areas such as Glodok, Merdeka Square, Menteng and Kebayoran Baru. Jayakarta was also developing very fast, proven by the development of Cathedral, Gambir Market, Jatinegara train station, Cut Mutiah Mosque, Metropole Cinema and Kemayoran Airport.

In the end of World War II, with supports from the Japanese troops, the land of Batavia was taken back by Indonesian troops. Batavia was then renamed to Djakarta, a shorter name for Jayakarta. When Japan had decolonized, Indonesia announced its proclamation on 17 August 1945 at Jalan Pegangsaan Timur No. 56 (now Jalan Proklamasi), Central Jakarta.
