Very strategic location, just across from the Disney Resort Line's Bayside monorail station. To get to that monorail station, we can either walk or use the shuttle bus. Next, buy a ticket on the Disney Resort Line to get to Disneyland, DisneySea, or Maihama JR station. There is a Lawson convenience store and a Yamato luggage delivery service counter on the ground floor of the hotel. Each floor has a drinking water station. For those coming from the airport, you can take the airport limousine bus and get off at the hotel lobby, which is very practical and comfortable.

The hotel is located right near Narita Airport, making it incredibly convenient to get there, and they offer a constant shuttle service. Because it's so close to the airport, there aren't many entertainment options nearby, but the hotel still has plenty of amenities, including restaurants and souvenir shops. The price is reasonable, the rooms are more spacious than other hotels in Tokyo, have beautiful views, and are clean. Overall, it's a 10/10 for anyone needing accommodation near the airport.

Great hotel near the airport. There is a shuttle bus provided at Terminal 2 bus bay. The hotel also provides a shuttle bus to the nearby mall. Staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the luggage handlers. They carry it all the way to the room, and you can arrange for them to help bring it down to the lobby as well.

What to Eat and Where to Find It in Chiba

For an authentic taste of Chiba, exploring its local markets and food streets is a must. Areas like Narita, with its proximity to the famous Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, offer traditional eateries serving dishes like unagi (eel) and local mochi. For Muslim travellers, finding Halal-certified restaurants might require some research, but many establishments are becoming more accommodating, and options can often be found in larger cities or by seeking out specific Japanese dishes that are naturally Halal, such as vegetable-based ramen or tempura.

The cost of dining in Chiba offers a spectrum of options, aligning with its reputation for value. Street food and casual eateries can be found for as little as ₱ 200-₱ 500 per person, offering a delicious and affordable way to sample local snacks and light meals. Mid-range restaurants, serving everything from sushi to tempura, typically range from ₱ 1,000 to ₱ 2,500 per person. Upscale dining experiences, particularly in hotels or specialized restaurants, can cost upwards of ₱ 4,000 per person, providing a more refined culinary journey.

Navigating dining etiquette in Chiba is part of the cultural experience. Tipping is not customary in Japan; excellent service is standard. It's polite to slurp noodles to show appreciation for the meal. When dining at a restaurant, wait to be seated, and avoid sticking chopsticks upright in your rice bowl, as this is associated with funeral rites. Familiarizing yourself with basic Japanese phrases for ordering and expressing gratitude can greatly enhance your dining interactions and show respect for local customs.

While tourist-facing areas are accustomed to international visitors, observing and adapting to these norms, such as removing shoes before entering homes or certain traditional establishments, will be greatly appreciated.

When visiting popular landmarks or even more casual spots like those around the ₱ 2,380.86/night hotels, maintaining a respectful demeanour is important. Dress codes are generally relaxed for tourists, but it's advisable to dress modestly when visiting temples or religious sites. Photography is usually permitted, but always check for signs indicating restrictions. Respecting personal space and avoiding loud conversations in public areas are simple yet significant ways to show consideration for local residents and fellow travellers.

Chiba is generally a very safe prefecture, with low crime rates. However, as with any travel, it's wise to take standard precautions. Keep your valuables secure, especially in crowded areas or on public transport. For reliable transportation, utilize the efficient train and bus systems, or reputable taxi services. While ride-hailing apps like Grab are not as prevalent in Japan as in Southeast Asia, local taxi apps and services are readily available and dependable for getting around the city.

In case of emergencies, dial 110 for police and 119 for ambulance or fire services. For Filipino travellers, the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo is the primary point of contact for consular assistance. It's always recommended to have travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and unforeseen events. Staying informed about any travel advisories issued by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) before your trip is also a prudent step to ensure a safe and smooth journey.

Getting to Chiba and Getting Around

For travellers from the Philippines, reaching Chiba is most commonly facilitated through flights into Narita International Airport (NRT), one of Japan's major international gateways. Direct flights from Manila (MNL) to Narita are available with various carriers, typically taking around 4 to 4.5 hours. Flights from Cebu (CEB) or other Philippine hubs may involve a layover, potentially extending the travel time. Booking your book flight in advance can secure better fares, with prices often ranging from ₱ 15,000 to ₱ 30,000 depending on the season and airline.

Once you arrive at Narita Airport, getting to your accommodation in Chiba is straightforward. The Narita Express train offers a comfortable and efficient journey to major stations within Chiba and Tokyo. Limousine buses are also available, providing direct service to many hotels and key areas. Within Chiba itself, the prefecture boasts an extensive and punctual public transportation network, primarily consisting of trains and buses. These systems are well-integrated, making it easy to navigate between different districts and attractions, with fares typically being very reasonable.

The best time to visit Chiba depends on your preferences. Spring (March to May) offers pleasant weather and the iconic cherry blossoms, though it can be crowded. Autumn (September to November) provides comfortable temperatures and beautiful fall foliage. Summer (June to August) is warm and humid, ideal for enjoying coastal activities, while winter (December to February) is cold but offers opportunities for winter illuminations and fewer crowds. Consider these seasons in relation to major holiday periods in the US, Europe, and India when planning your trip.

Before departing for Chiba, ensure you have your passport with at least six months of validity remaining. The local currency is the Japanese Yen (JPY). While credit cards are widely accepted in hotels and larger establishments, carrying some cash is advisable for smaller shops, local eateries, and transport. Consider purchasing a local SIM card or pocket Wi-Fi device at the airport for seamless connectivity. Essential apps include Google Maps for navigation, Google Translate for communication, and HyperDia or Jorudan for train schedules.

Visa Information

For Philippine passport holders planning a trip to Chiba, Japan, understanding the visa requirements is a crucial first step. As of current regulations, Philippine citizens are generally required to obtain a visa to enter Japan for tourism or short stays. This typically involves applying for a Temporary Visitor Visa through the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines or its designated visa application centres, such as VFS Global. The process requires careful preparation and submission of necessary documents to ensure a smooth application.

The application process for a Japanese visa involves submitting a completed visa application form, a valid passport with sufficient remaining validity (usually at least six months beyond your intended stay), passport-sized photographs, and supporting documents. These often include proof of financial capacity, such as bank statements or certificates of employment, and a confirmed return flight ticket and hotel bookings. Processing times can vary, so it is advisable to apply well in advance of your planned travel dates, typically several weeks to a month prior.

While visa policies can be subject to change, it is always recommended for travellers to verify the most up-to-date requirements directly with the official website of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines or the Japan Immigration Services Agency. Confirming your visa status and understanding all entry regulations before booking flights or making non-refundable arrangements is a prudent measure to ensure a hassle-free journey to Chiba and other parts of Japan.
