Your Travel Guide to El Nido as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to El Nido from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

The most convenient way to reach El Nido from Manila and other major Philippine cities is by air. Several airlines operate flights to El Nido Airport (ENI). Flights from Manila typically range from PHP 4,000 to PHP 8,000 for a round trip, depending on the season and how far in advance you book. The flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. You can book flight tickets easily through Traveloka.

For budget-conscious travelers, an alternative route involves flying into Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPS), which often has more frequent and cheaper flights. From Puerto Princesa, you can take a van or bus to El Nido town. These journeys typically take 5 to 6 hours and cost around PHP 500 to PHP 800. This option requires more travel time but can significantly reduce airfare costs.

If you are traveling from nearby islands or prefer a scenic overland journey, bus services are available, though less common for long distances from major hubs like Manila. For those already in Palawan, vans and buses connect Puerto Princesa to El Nido. Driving your own vehicle is also an option, but be prepared for long stretches of road, with the journey from Puerto Princesa to El Nido taking around 5-6 hours.

The rainy season, from June to October, sees more frequent rainfall and rougher seas, which can sometimes lead to tour cancellations. However, this period offers a more tranquil experience and lower prices for those willing to take a chance on the weather.

We asked for a king bed and were given 2 singles and told it was fully booked. The breakfast very basic and cold. The staff at reception were not the usual friendly philipinas...except when checking out. The room was very poor. Took 3 visits to reception to get internet and a phone. Room was dark and damp. Not what i expected at all from an "exclusive hotel". In the restaurant flies were everywhere too. Long way from town and only 1 free shuttle in and out. Expected alot more shuttle runs in a resort like this. Not good!

The lobby and public areas of the hotel were quite nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful, our room was incredibly damp and the bathroom remained wet with condensation running on and running down the walls even 12hr after a regular hot shower. I don’t think the fan was doing anything at all and the window was open. In addition I realised on the last night in the room that there unfortunately were bed bugs and some pipe had bust leading the room to be filled with a putrid stench

The hotel is nicez looks kind of new. The positive points is that the area is peaceful, not noise. Not too far from Lio Beach. They have a shuttle to El Nido town and to Lio Beach. The shuttle to the hotel from the airport is very convenient but make sure you call them before. The negative points is that tge towels to go outside of the hotel to beach or excursions are not.complimentary, you have to pay to.rent them. The hotel is around 20 min from the town and they only offer the shuttle 3 times a day. Otherwise you would have to get a tuk tuk, many tuk tuk drivers don't know where is the hotel even if you show them the location. In the town is where most of restaurants and activities are located but could be noisy. Lio beach is so beautiful, but again they have only 4 times a day shuttle. I think the location of the hotel is not the best, there is nothing around but the hotel looks nice.

Noise levels were often quite high in the bedrooms from street and roosters from neighbouring properties. Communal area was also noisy at unexpected times like a 4 hour pool party with loud music. Restaurant was also not up to scratch and the fact you can’t expense to room is also annoying. Another example of an issue is that on one evening there was a buffet dinner that wasn’t communicated at all, and given distance hotel is from town this caused a lot of hassle for our family. Finally, there should be more frequent shuttle buses to/from town given how far away it is - tricycle is fun once! Summarising: better communication and service standard from a hotel that pitches itself highly, but based on our experience doesn’t meet.

Our room was like a Danish Prison cell. It was so cold and dark, and right at the very back of the property. There is a fuse box next to this room that hums all day and night long so it makes you think you’re going mad, but reception knows about it, they’ll turn it off if you ask, then turn it back on again, unfixed.

Staff were fabulous! They were very kind and attentive to our every needs. Breakfast was good. Enough varieties that will make anyone full. They have a live egg/omelette station. We were upgraded the first night to a Premiere room because they oversold the rooms. That room was beautiful, but the next day we had to wait for the original room we booked to become clean and available. That room with 2 beds was all right. It was clean so we didn't mind. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family, and we would definitely stay here again.

For value of money, a la carte breakfast is below par. Not much choice for those whose booking didn’t include breakfast. Puto bumbong and bibingka a great addition. Staff are excellent, friendly, efficient. Hotel is inconvenient except for shuttle but it’s per schedule. The pool made up for the vexation. Booked superior twin room and it was so tiny, no space to move for two people. I had to upgrade to family room and cost me more plus breakfast was also not included. In all, it proved to be expensive for me. Booked through WOTIF who failed to follow up on my complaint. The booking was for El Nido but system recommended Puerto Princesa advising it is nearer the place of accommodation I’ve chosen. I ended up paying another $900 approx to book from MNL to ENI direct per family suggestion as van from PUERTO to El Nido will be sheer punishment for my 72 years. The air fare could not be refunded, flight destination could not be changed, flight unable to be cancelled. WOTIF not of any help, bad customer service.

Its was a great stay overall, staff were very nice and and attentive to anything, unfortunately the only downside i did not like was the room being at the very bottom, not much view. Overall id stay again, but pick and book a different room where it is more space and view.

The shower was very weak pressure and roosters woke us up through the night and every morning. Beyond that, everything was excellent. Great staff. Valuable shuttle to town, beach, and airport.
