"Well known for its amazing beaches, Quezon is also home to majestic islands that are not too far off its coast. Take a tour to discover the beauty of Cagbalete Island or the unspoiled beauty of Borawan Island. And just when you thought it couldn’t get better, watch the sun go down on the pink sands Salibungot Beach of Jomalig Island."

More about Quezon Province

Quezon Province

You don't have to go on a trip to Palawan to enjoy the romantic, quiet beaches, or to Davao for a challenging hike because Quezon Province has got it all for you. The best this is it’s only three hours away from the country's capital.

Cagbalete Island

Longing to have fun on the beach but afraid to break the bank? The province of Quezon has a lot to offer – from eye-catching, pristine beaches, to rich and colorful festivals, to delectable dishes – and surprisingly, you wouldn't have to spend a lot of money and time to be satisfied.

How to Go

By land transportation

Whether you're from the northern or southern part of the metro, major bus terminals offer scheduled trips going to Quezon Province. From Buendia or Cubao, you could catch a Jam Transit/Lucena Liner/Jac Liner/Ceres Transport bus going to Mauban or Lucena.

Getting Around

From the terminal, mini buses and tricycles are there to welcome you and take you to your destination. For island hoppers, public boats are also available for 50 pesos per person.

Tourist Attractions

St. Michael the Archangel

Tayabas, Quezon is the home of a National Cultural Treasure, the Minor Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel. The Baroque-inspired architectural design of the basilica is definitely a must-see, plus, it would certainly be a pleasure to see the Philippine's longest Spanish Colonial Church in person

Also, do not miss the chance to attend the healing masses every Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Kamay ni Hesus Chapel. The chapel also features a 50-foot statue of Jesus Christ on top of a small hill which you have to climb for 310 steps, so make sure to bring an umbrella and a bottled water with you.

Top Things to Do

Quezon Island Hopping

An adventure junkie wouldn't miss the chance to conquer Mt. Banahaw in Lucban, but for the beach lovers, get your healthy dose of vitamin sea at the province's range of beautiful resorts and beaches. Go fishing, bird watching, beach hopping and even horseback riding at the wonderful Cagbalete Island for that fresh escapade you have always dreamed of.

Where to Eat

Pancit Habhab

What's the point of food-tripping in Quezon if you haven't tried their famous Pancit Habhab? This traditional delicacy has been offered for locals and tourists alike at The Center Miki for 79 years, so check out this tried-and-tested restaurant at San Luis Street in Lucban.

For healthy eaters, MJD Urban Escape in Lucena is a must-visit as it is a farm, restaurant and recreational space all at the same time. Enjoy their freshly-plucked greens, paired with hale and hearty meals like their Mom's baked penne (P279) with organic papayamansi (P55).

Where to Stay

In Quezon, you'll never run out of options on where to stay in, whether you're on the island or on the mainland. There are three well-known resorts on the south eastern part of the island: Villa Cleofas, MVT Sto. Nino Beach Resort, and Pansacola Beach Resort.

For those staying on the mainland, you could enjoy affordability combined with good service at Quezon Premier Hotel in Lucena, paying ay only P1600 for an overnight stay that is already good for 2-3 persons.

Nightlife

In this province, your festivals are your nightlife. The annual colorful festivity that is the “Pahiyas” is held every 15th of May. Bask in the fun and color as small towns give their tribute to their local farmers and to San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers, peasants, and laborers.

The people of Quezon are very big when it comes to giving homage and thanksgiving, and every city has their own way of doing their own celebrations. But if you want to just have a fun, more relaxed night, you could head to the bars in SM Lucena, Sotero's Bar and Restaurant, or at BRBQ King.

Travel Tips

  • If you're going to spend your night in Cagbalete Island, take note that there is no available market nearby, so it's advisable to buy or bring your food and other necessities before heading.

  • Always call for advance booking especially when going during summer time.

  • Finding mobile signals on the island could frustrate you, so just try to leave your worries at home alone and enjoy this wondrous beauty of nature.

The room is very old and dirty... They don't have fridge in the room even though we get the family room. The breakfast buffet only had 2 choices of dishes.

Queen Margarette Hotel - Main
It was actually nice to stay at the hotel. I just had a few mishaps during online booking and check-in and I can't blame the hotel for it. It was a same-day online booking (booked online at 4pm, standard check-in is at 2pm) and I was supposed to book a room for 2 people with breakfast. However, since there are only three (3) remaining available rooms, I made the booking and payment very quickly and did not notice that I had the booking (with breakfast) for 1 person only. I called the hotel to check if my booking is successful and asked if they can accommodate 2 people because we are 2 and it shows in my voucher that the number of guest is only 1. The lady said OK since the room is actually good for 2. So we checked-in at 8PM and during the process, I was advised that the breakfast was only for 1 person and that I had to make another payment for the other guest's breakfast if I wish to. I tried asking if they can consider it but was advised that since it was stated in the voucher that only one person has breakfast, they can only accommodate 1 person. I tried checking the Traveloka online booking again and it seems that there are no changes in the amount even if I make the guests 2 with breakfast so I tried asking the hotel lobby again. Unfortunately, was not allowed to. So we just paid for the other guest's bill for breakfast. My bad though. So really, double-check the number of guests in your booking before proceeding with your payment especially if it includes breakfast. For the room-I caught colds when I woke up. I am unsure though if it is because of the aircon or the bed sheet. The aircon is not set up too low, though, but I can't totally say that it was the bed linens. Bringing of outside food is allowed but with a corkage fee of 20% of the total amount of the food you are going to bring in. We actually bought dinner but since we were advised about the corkage fee, we ended up eating our food inside the car, before we went inside. The location is pretty easy to go to. It is pinned correctly both in Waze and in Maps. The Receptionist is also quite friendly.
