Vietnam is known for its white- sandy beaches, lush rice paddies, scenic rivers, and its widespread of distinctive local cuisine. It is located east most of Indochina by the South China sea. It has a wealth of world heritage sites. Among the popular things to do in Vietnam includes a memorable river cruise along Ha Long Bay, a visit to a well preserved ancient town, Hoi An, and a fascinating tour to Hui.

Hotel service so impressive. They also provide breakfast to take away and it's not only noodle or rice. There are 3 boxes: 1 box for appetizer (egg, banana, yogurt), 1 box for heavy meal (fried noodle/fried rice) and 1 box for dessert (cakes/buns). Hotel staff always try their best eventhough language barrier. Welcome drink provided and it's nice. Room spacious, clean, and comfortable. Really recommended for tourists.

The overall services are good, from the shuttle bus from HCMC, quick check-in, good food at the restaurant, pool for kids, many places for photo shooting, clean and comfy rooms, my kid liking the corridor way. There are many nice places internally. We also ate out for one dinner at a nearby seafood place, taking a taxi for 10 minutes. Good short 1 night stay for family with kids.

More about hotels in Vietnam

Vietnam: A Tapestry of Experiences for the Filipino Wanderer

For many Filipinos, the allure of Southeast Asia often conjures images of bustling markets, ancient temples, and vibrant street life. Vietnam, a nation rich in history and breathtaking landscapes, offers a compelling alternative to familiar destinations, presenting a unique blend of cultural depth and natural beauty that resonates with the Filipino spirit of exploration. It’s a place where the echoes of the past meet the dynamism of the present, creating a travel experience that is both enriching and profoundly different from what you might find closer to home.

What truly sets Vietnam apart is its remarkable geographical and cultural diversity. From the misty highlands of Da Lat to the energetic streets of Ho Chi Minh City's District 1, and from the pristine beaches of Mui Ne and Nha Trang to the historical charm of Hoi An (though not explicitly listed, it's a common reference point for cultural depth), each region offers a distinct flavour.

Whether you're drawn to the serene landscapes of Nghe An, the coastal allure of Phan Thiet, or the urban pulse of Hai Chau in Da Nang, Vietnam promises a journey that can be tailored to every whim, ensuring no two visits are ever quite the same.

Understanding the value proposition is key for any Filipino traveller planning a trip. With an average review score of 8.6 from over 2.4 million guest reviews, Vietnam's hospitality sector is clearly well-regarded. While prices can vary, the prospect of finding comfortable and well-appointed accommodation starting from around ₱1,000 per night means that a significant and immersive travel experience is well within reach for many. This accessibility, combined with the sheer volume of positive feedback, signals a destination that consistently delivers on guest expectations.

Consider the allure of Mui Ne, a coastal highlight known for its dramatic sand dunes and laid-back atmosphere. It’s a place where adventure meets relaxation, offering activities like kite surfing and exploring the unique Fairy Stream. This destination, like many others in Vietnam, provides a tangible glimpse into the country's diverse offerings, from natural wonders to cultural encounters. For Filipino travellers seeking a memorable escape, Mui Ne exemplifies the kind of unique experiences that await.

When planning your itinerary, remember that finding the right place to stay is crucial to enjoying these discoveries; you can book hotel rooms that suit your needs and budget.

Vietnam's appeal spans a wide spectrum of travellers. Families will find resorts with dedicated kids' clubs and activities, particularly in coastal areas. Couples can seek out romantic boutique hotels or serene retreats in the highlands. Solo adventurers will thrive in the vibrant cities, with their rich history and accessible street food culture. Business travellers can find well-equipped hotels in major urban centres. The key is to match your travel style and interests with the right region, ensuring your Vietnamese sojourn is perfectly aligned with your expectations.

Best Areas to Stay in Vietnam

Vietnam is a country of striking contrasts, where each city and region possesses a unique character that can profoundly shape your travel experience. Choosing the right base is more than just finding a place to sleep; it's about immersing yourself in the local atmosphere, accessing the attractions that interest you most, and enjoying the specific flavours and pace of life that define a particular area. Whether you're drawn to the energy of a metropolis or the tranquility of a coastal town, understanding these distinctions will help you craft the perfect Vietnamese adventure.

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Ho Chi Minh City, often still referred to by its former name, Saigon, is Vietnam's pulsating economic heart. District 1, in particular, is the city's central hub, a dynamic area where colonial architecture meets modern skyscrapers. It's a place that never truly sleeps, offering a sensory overload of sights, sounds, and smells. For Filipino travellers, the energy here is familiar yet distinct, a blend of fast-paced urban life and deeply ingrained traditions. It's ideal for those who thrive on city exploration, enjoy vibrant nightlife, and want to be at the centre of commerce and culture.

From District 1, iconic landmarks like the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office, and the War Remnants Museum are easily accessible. The Ben Thanh Market is worth visiting for souvenirs and local snacks, offering a true taste of Saigon. The city is also a gateway to exploring the Mekong Delta. Getting around is convenient with numerous e-hailing services and taxis. For those looking to explore beyond the city's immediate vicinity, numerous day tours and excursions are available, allowing you to book attraction tickets and tours with ease.

Da Nang

Da Nang, a coastal city in central Vietnam, offers a more relaxed pace than Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, yet it boasts impressive modern infrastructure and stunning natural beauty. The Son Tra peninsula, with its lush greenery and the iconic Lady Buddha statue, provides a serene escape, while the city itself is known for its long, sandy beaches like My Khe. For Filipino travellers, Da Nang presents a perfect blend of urban convenience and beachside relaxation, making it suitable for families, couples, and solo travellers seeking a balanced holiday experience.

The Marble Mountains, a cluster of five limestone and marble hills, are a significant draw, offering caves, pagodas, and panoramic views. Da Nang also serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby historical sites like Hoi An and the My Son Sanctuary. The city is well-connected by air, with its own international airport. Within the city, taxis and ride-hailing apps are readily available. The Dragon Bridge, which famously breathes fire and water on weekends, is a unique spectacle worth witnessing.

Nha Trang

Nha Trang is arguably Vietnam's most famous beach resort city, renowned for its long, crescent-shaped bay dotted with islands and its clear turquoise waters. The city itself is a lively destination with a bustling beachfront promenade, numerous seafood restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife. For Filipino travellers, Nha Trang offers a classic tropical getaway experience, similar in appeal to some of the Philippines' own island destinations but with a distinct Vietnamese cultural flavour. It's particularly well-suited for beach lovers, divers, and those seeking a lively coastal atmosphere.

Beyond the main beach, island hopping tours are a major attraction, offering opportunities for snorkelling, diving, and visiting fishing villages. The Po Nagar Cham Towers, an ancient temple complex, provide a glimpse into Vietnam's Cham heritage. The city is accessible via Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR), located about 45 minutes south of the city centre. Getting around Nha Trang is easy with taxis and motorbike rentals. The fresh seafood is a highlight, with many restaurants lining the main streets offering daily catches.

Mui Ne & Phan Thiet

Mui Ne, a coastal resort town near Phan Thiet, is famous for its dramatic red and white sand dunes, which create a surreal desert-like landscape. This unique environment offers activities like sandboarding and jeep tours. The coastline also features the appealing Fairy Stream, a shallow stream flowing through limestone and red sand formations. For Filipino travellers, Mui Ne offers a different kind of beach experience, one that combines relaxation with unique natural wonders. It's a great destination for couples and adventure seekers looking for something beyond the typical beach resort.

Phan Thiet, the larger city nearby, offers more local flavour and historical sites, including the Phu Hai Cham Tower. Mui Ne itself is a long stretch of coastline with resorts, restaurants, and kite-surfing schools, making it a hub for water sports enthusiasts. The nearest airport is at Cam Ranh (CXR), requiring a transfer, or Lien Khuong Airport (DLI) in Da Lat, also a transfer. Getting around Mui Ne is best done by taxi or rented motorbike. The fresh seafood, particularly fish sauce produced in the region, is a culinary highlight.

Da Lat

set in the Central Highlands, Da Lat is often called the "City of Eternal Spring" due to its cool climate and picturesque landscapes. It's a stark contrast to Vietnam's coastal cities, offering rolling hills, pine forests, waterfalls, and French colonial architecture. For Filipino travellers seeking a respite from the tropical heat, Da Lat provides a refreshing change of pace. Its romantic ambiance makes it a popular choice for couples, while its natural beauty appeals to nature lovers and those interested in a more tranquil Vietnamese experience.

Key attractions include the Xuan Huong Lake, the Bao Dai Summer Palace, and numerous waterfalls like Datanla and Pongour. The city is also known for its flower gardens and coffee plantations. Da Lat has its own airport, Lien Khuong Airport (DLI), with domestic connections. Getting around the city and its surroundings is best done by taxi or motorbike. The local cuisine features unique highland specialties, including fresh vegetables, strawberries, and grilled dishes, offering a different culinary perspective from the rest of Vietnam.

A Culinary Journey Through Vietnam

Vietnam's culinary landscape is a vibrant exploration of fresh ingredients, delicate spices, and diverse regional influences, offering a delightful contrast to Filipino flavours. From the aromatic pho to the crispy banh mi, each dish tells a story of the country's rich history and agricultural bounty. For Filipino travellers, exploring Vietnamese cuisine is an adventure in itself, a chance to discover new tastes and textures that are both familiar in their freshness and exciting in their unique preparation.

The undisputed king of Vietnamese cuisine is Pho, a fragrant noodle soup typically made with beef or chicken broth, rice noodles, and thinly sliced meat, garnished with fresh herbs, lime, and chili. Another iconic dish is Banh Mi, a French-colonial legacy that has been uniquely Vietnamese, featuring a crispy baguette filled with various savoury ingredients like grilled meats, pâté, pickled vegetables, and cilantro. For those seeking vegetarian options, Bun Chay (vegetarian noodle soup) and Rau Muong Xao Toi (stir-fried water spinach with garlic) are readily available and delicious.

Navigating Vietnam as a Muslim traveller requires a bit of planning, but it is certainly achievable. While Vietnam is not a predominantly Muslim country, major cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi have a growing number of halal-certified restaurants and Muslim-friendly eateries. Areas around mosques often offer the most reliable options. Many Vietnamese dishes are naturally halal, relying on vegetables, seafood, and rice. It's always advisable to politely inquire about ingredients, especially regarding pork and alcohol, when dining in non-certified establishments.

The beauty of Vietnamese food lies in its regional diversity. In the north, Pho Bac is known for its clear, delicate broth. Central Vietnam, particularly Hue, is famous for its imperial cuisine, featuring complex flavours and intricate presentations, such as Bun Bo Hue, a spicy beef noodle soup. In the south, dishes tend to be sweeter and richer, with an abundance of fresh herbs and seafood. Exploring these regional specialties offers a deeper understanding of Vietnam's cultural tapestry, making a trip to different cities a culinary pilgrimage.

When dining in Vietnam, Filipino travellers will find that tipping is not as ingrained as in some Western countries, though it is appreciated for exceptional service. Meal times are generally flexible, with locals often enjoying meals throughout the day. Street food is a classic part of the Vietnamese experience, offering delicious and affordable options. It's advisable to choose vendors with high turnover and visible hygiene practices. Learning a few basic Vietnamese phrases for ordering can also enhance your dining experience and show respect for the local culture.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Vietnam

Understanding and respecting local customs is key to a smooth and enjoyable trip in Vietnam. While Vietnamese people are generally welcoming and hospitable, being aware of certain cultural nuances can prevent misunderstandings and foster positive interactions. For Filipino travellers, many aspects of Vietnamese culture might feel familiar due to shared Asian values, but there are distinct differences to keep in mind.

One of the most important aspects of Vietnamese etiquette is showing respect for elders and authority figures. When visiting temples or pagodas, dress modestly, covering your shoulders and knees, and always remove your shoes before entering. It's customary to use your right hand when giving or receiving items, especially food or money. Avoid public displays of affection and try to maintain a calm demeanour, as loud or confrontational behaviour is generally frowned upon. Observing how locals interact can provide valuable insights.

Safety in Vietnam is generally good, with petty crime being the most common concern, particularly in crowded tourist areas. It's wise to be vigilant about your belongings, especially in markets and on public transport. Using reputable taxi companies or ride-hailing apps like Grab (where available) is recommended for safe and fair transportation. For those venturing out at night, sticking to well-lit and populated areas is advisable. Vietnam has a good record for serious crime, making it a relatively safe destination for travellers.

In case of emergencies, the general emergency number in Vietnam is 113 for police, 114 for fire, and 115 for ambulance. For Filipino citizens travelling abroad, it's always prudent to know the contact details of the nearest Philippines Embassy or Consulate. For Vietnam, the Philippines Embassy is located in Hanoi. It's also highly recommended to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost belongings, providing an essential safety net during your travels.

Getting to Vietnam and Getting Around

For Filipino travellers, the journey to Vietnam is straightforward, with numerous flight options connecting major cities in the Philippines to Vietnam's international airports. Airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Vietnam Airlines frequently operate routes from Manila (NAIA), Clark, and sometimes Cebu to Hanoi (HAN) and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN). Flight durations typically range from 2 to 3 hours, and booking in advance through platforms like Traveloka can often secure more favourable fares, allowing you to book flight tickets that fit your budget.

Once in Vietnam, intercity travel is efficient and varied. High-speed trains connect major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, offering scenic routes and a comfortable way to see the countryside. Domestic flights are also a popular and quick option for covering longer distances, with numerous carriers serving various routes. For shorter distances or exploring specific regions, buses are widely available and economical. Renting a motorbike is also a common way for travellers to explore cities and rural areas at their own pace, though caution is advised due to traffic conditions.

The best time to visit Vietnam from the Philippines largely depends on the region you plan to explore, as the country experiences diverse weather patterns. Generally, the dry season from November to April is considered ideal for most of Vietnam, offering pleasant temperatures and less rainfall. However, the north can be cool during winter months (December-February), while the south remains warm year-round. Shoulder seasons, like March-April and September-October, can offer a good balance of favourable weather and fewer crowds, potentially leading to better hotel prices.

Before embarking on your Vietnamese adventure, a few pre-departure preparations are essential. The local currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). While major currencies like USD are sometimes accepted in tourist areas, it's best to exchange your PHP for VND upon arrival or use ATMs. Consider purchasing a local SIM card for affordable data and communication. Essential apps include Grab for transportation and translation apps. Ensure your passport has at least six months of validity beyond your intended stay and check for any specific entry requirements.

The hotel is clean. Friendly reception, room price is extremely reasonable compared to room quality. Beautiful modern room. There is a swimming pool on the 8th floor. However, the thing I am most dissatisfied with is the tile floor in the toilet. The hotel chose to line it with regular floor tiles - so when there is water on the floor + wearing hotel slippers is extremely dangerous. My friend and I fell once and almost fell many more times. Hopefully the hotel will use additional floor coverings to reduce this situation. Because Da Nang is quite small, one round trip is enough - so at the hotel's location, it's about 20-25k to grab a motorbike to the center. The hotel rents motorbikes at reasonable prices.
