1. Big Bus Tour | Kowloon Cultural and Art Tour
— Itinerary —
Around a decade ago, the international art world derided Hong Kong as a “cultural desert.” This nickname came up because critics saw the city as a place without art and culture, just commerce. So, why not we go on an ‘art’ tour that make a difference. The tour begins with a Japanese hotpot lunch buffet, including choice of beef and pork, various selections of food, vegetables, appetizers, snacks, drinks, and desserts. After the hotpot lunch buffet, we will hop on-board the open top bus sightseeing tour to the West Kowloon Cultural District, where you can pre-book the admission ticket for the newly opened Palace Museum and the M+ Museum (at guest’s own expense) or you can take a stroll along the Victoria Harbour.
This "art" tour also takes you to two cultural and hipster hotspots that have been revitalised with significant historical value: Jao Tsung-I Academy and The Mills. The site of Jao Tsung-I Academy has over 100 years of rich and vibrant history. It was a customs station during the Qing dynasty (1644–1912), then became labourers’ quarters, and thereafter, a quarantine station, prison, infectious disease hospital and psychiatric rehabilitation centre, respectively. Through taking on different functions over time, the site has remained closely intertwined with the historical and social changes of Hong Kong. The Mills is a landmark revitalization project converted from a 1950s textiles mill. It’s a contemporary arts space set to be a destination for innovation, culture, and learning. Not only can you find a fascinating array of cool cafes, restaurants, and local designers shops, there are also some unique Instagram spots for you to discover. Don’t miss out on the creative murals along Pak Tin Par Lane!
